No. I have heard that gold is useful in medicine as an antibiotic, but only in certain forms and tiny amounts. Extended use can lead to heavy metal poisoning.
Per wikipedia:
"High quality pure metallic gold is tasteless, in keeping with its resistance to corrosion (it is metal ions which confer taste to metals).
In addition, gold is very dense, a cubic meter weighing 19300 kg. By comparison, the density of lead is 11340 kg/m3, and the densest element, Iridium, is 22650 kg/m3.
Toxicity
Generally, gold is non-toxic if consumed, and is used as food decoration in the form of gold leaf. However, consumption and thereby accumulation in body of large amount of gold (or gold compounds) is still toxic and the symptoms are similar to those of heavy metal poisoning."

Not all gold leaf is edible. You need to find some which clearly says its ok to eat. If it was PURE 22-24 carat gold, then normally it ought to be ok, but gold extraction involves a lot of chemicals. Gold leaf which doesn't say its ok to eat, might have residue on it, or could be impure and mixed with other heavy metals. If the company making it weren't expecting you to eat it, they probably wont go to all the trouble of ensuring it's non-toxic.

'Edible' gold is neither harmful nor beneficial. Gold is a chemically inert metal, meaning that it will pass through your digestive system completely intact. Unlike a mineral, such as iron, gold contains no nutritive value and will not be absorbed.
When gold is added to food or products such as the alcohol Goldschlager, it is purely for decoration.

When Iwas a chef we used it in the one hotel I worked in for a dessert made for 2 people and served at the table, we used gold foil, the dust and particals in the German schnapps, Goldschlager.
It has not nutritional value we even use the silver foil to, it is alot like fresh truffles, they are nice but not something I would pay hundreds of dollars for, I saw on a menu one time a fresh pasta with white Italian truffles and they wanted $40 for plate for noodles with mushrooms on it, I could not bring myself to being that over the top when writing my menus.

Junk science... no real scientific backing that edible gold is good for your health.
However, it does make nice cake decoration.
