Many men purchase a bridal set which is the engagement ring and a matching band at the same time, so no 10 months isn't too early. The first thing I bought for my wedding was his ring, I was so excited to go looking! As long as neither of you are planning on losing/gaining massive amounts of weight, buy it now :)

I think 10 months is too early. I am getting married mid October and my fiance and I are going to order our rings this weekend. I am having my ring made. The jewlers told us it would take about 2 weeks. We are going a couple of months before the wedding "just in case." I think a couple of months before is fine. If you go too early and you gain or lose weight or whatever, the ring may not fit anymore and then you have to get it resized. I'd wait a bit.

You can purchase as early as you want - what difference does it make if it's 10 months or 2 weeks in advance? As long as you have enough time to have them re-sized, it's all that matters.
My husband and I got our wedding bands 2-3 weeks before we got married.

We got our titanium bands off eBay and they are gorgeous, much nicer than they photographed. Mine has a little imperfection where it came off the mold (or whatever was used), but the seller was immediately willing to exchange the ring. I didn't want to, though, it just wasn't big enough to make it worth it to me to send back the ring. The only concern I'd have about a tungsten band would be that it might not be the same mix of metal that makes it hypoallergenic like the best-quality tungsten bands are. (A lot of bands, not just the ones on eBay, aren't hypoallergenic.) But if neither of you has allergies to metals, that isn't a problem!

no that is perfect because then u can make payments on the bands if need be and have them hold them till closer to the wedding date. zales did that in our mall but i had to specially order our rings as my husband has a size 13 finger and we had to get a ring to fit him so they kept the ring for me till friday and i went and picked it up for a saturday wedding. but if u see something u want now get it and have the jewlery place hold it for u.

That is a good enough time, however, they could get lost easily. I would wait a bit longer to get the bands.

I would say like 2-3 months so you can have them sized and what not. Thats what we are going to do.

we got ours two months in advance. you can buy your rings whenever it works for you. you need time to get them sized, but that doesn't take long. if you found something you like and you know you won't change your mind, it's OK to get them now. but you might have temptation to wear them now, like my husband did!

i bought mine 7 months ins advance, but as long as your finger doesn't get broken or anything, the ring will fit on the day wether you get it now or later.
