Mohitos are the in thing right now... I am a beer fan myself though so if I am in the mood for something different, I ask if they have any micro-brewed stuff.

Pick your flavor of vodka + club soda.

I.e. Stoli Raz and soda(raspberry), Mandarin and soda (= Absolute Mandarin), Citron and soda (= Absolute Citron and soda), the list goes on.

This is a very low cal drink. Club soda has zero calories and whatever the calories are in the vodka, which I don't think is more than 120 or so per shot. Also, if you get sick of lemon, you could move raspberry and you won't be mixing liquors.

Most of the drinks mentioned above would make me some wicked sorry I drank them the next day. Anything with cream = huge hangover.

For Sweet, but Strong try: White Russian; Vodka, Kahlua & Cream

For More Traditional: Knob Creek or Maker's Mark & Coke (both good bourbons)

Vodka Cranberry is always good, (my favorite vodka is Ketel One)

If you like that but wish it were sweeter, ask for a Cosmopolitan (Vodka, triplesec & cranberry)

For more tropical flavors, try rum with orange/pineapple/cranberry in any combination including all three. Try Captain Morgan of if you like coconut, Malibu

My favorite fall back, when I want something different, is a Margarita, with endless variations, I like mine on the rocks with salt a little heavy on the Triple Sec.

Don't be afraid to hit your bartender up for info. It can be fun to figure out what a person likes and customize a drink for them.

Order a manhattan. Not many people do anymore but most bartenders know them. It is a very unusual drink, just the ticket for someone who wants something different.

It is whiskey, sweet (red) vermouth and bitters, shaken with ice and strained into a coctail (martini) glass.

I'd try out a white russian. It contains vodka and kahluah. Goes down well as it tastes almost like chocolate milk...well to me at least.

sex on the beach, alabama slammer, or order some slippery tit (aka buttery nipples) shots. Those are awesome if you like butterscotch. I also like kaluha stingers. (kaluha and peppermint)
