Why??? recently i had an argument with my best friend, i decided to open up and tell her who i really was and that i didnt like the same music tha she liked. She likes Tpain and all the others, i would prefer different. She called me an idiot, amd said that what i like isnt real music. Why do i have to be a clone to be accepted, that music its not me....... its not who i am, why does it matter though? Just because i am differnet why should anyone want to label me? God didnt create everyone alike so obviously, people are faking. Its just not right..............

Music is a very personal matter. Everyone is allowed to like what they like. Art, visual stimuli, the types of cars we like, foods and flavors. its all a personal choice, its what makes us unique from each other. How boring would it be if everyone liked the same thing. It sounds, tho, like you and your "freind" have other issues than just music, wedged between you, Sometimes it takes awhile to see if you really like someone. You would have probably decided you had differences anyways. Just give it a break with your freind for awhile. Hang out with someone you dont know so well. Maybe you will have more in common with a different person. Its not really so much that people are faking to be freinds. It may be that some are just experimenting because they really dont know what they do like, yet, so they try what everyone else is doing, so thay can feel like they fit in. You are lucky enough to have an Idea what you do like, so go ahead and listen to it. Music is like art, you should experience a lot of it, because you may discover something new you had never thought about before. But dont put someone else down if they like something different.

It sounds like your friend practically made a religion out of her love for her music. I bet she talks about it a lot, and is a big fan of this.... tpain(?)
When people really get into something big time, they sort of think that everyone should too, or at least those they consider their close ones.

Try explaining to her, that you do not disagree with her likes for this type of her music, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. Try to get her to see that she is being unreasonable. keep accepting her and assure her it's not the main part of your friendship with each other.

If she is still calling you names or thinks that you have bad taste, then let her go.. You do not need a friend that is controlling, and this small difference of opinion is a good way to find out her true nature as a friend.

Good luck, stay true to yourself! :-)

Tpain and all those guys dont know what on earth they're on about. Look at the lives they live, they're not setting good examples.

My friends listen to Rock, Rap and other genre of songs. I listen to Gospel music only. They respect my choice of music.

I think your friend should learn some manners.

You asked, "Why do I have to be a clone to be accepted?..." I think maybe you should ask yourself, "Why do I feel that it is so important to be accepted?"

Your friend may have called you an idiot, and disagreed with your taste in music. So let your friend express her opinion, and don't hate her just for saying a few words.

Let her say what she thinks, and you'll also let yourself do the same.

Why should you care what people label you with? I'm a fat, daft, silly, unfashionable, housewife (and student)....

Sometimes I look or act like a complete retard (by accident, lol)... but if it gives people a laugh, I'm happy for them. I love myself just the same.

I couldn't agree with you more! If you remember Jesus was one of the biggest rebels of his time. He did not conform, and he hung out with the outcast who needed him the most.
I look at people like a dinner setting,,, if you only have a spoon, you are only drinking soup, if you have a fork, you can eat salad, if you only have a knife,,, well i guess besides cutting you could dip it in honey and stick pees to it.. LOL
but with all three you could enjoy a wonderful 5 course meal,,, God created people to compliment eachother,, without the differences,, well the world would be very boring!!!
Good luck, and God Bless
Jen

The world is always going to be this way. I told my friends that I was atheist. Now, I don't have many friends left. They all said that I'm going to hell and that I should repent.

Just ignore what people say. It's hard because if you act like yourself, people are going to stop being your friend. It's best to have friends who like you for who you are.

Life is like this because we are human. If she said those things to you, she isn't your friend. Everyone labels things, even if you don't say it out loud. Just be glad you were honest to her and leave it at that. Time for you to find some new friends.

If you now choose to live who you are you will find that your choices in friends may also change.

It goes with the territory - live who you are and be happy to be yourself or live a lie and be unhappy with yourself.

Contrary to what all the sheep believe we are all unique individuals and one doesn't have to follow or belong to any particular group.

Not much of a friend there a true friend would stick by you regardless of your taste in music, your religion, or what you wear. Very sad indeed.

Those who dont follow the herd blindly are always condemned by the egotistic, shallow and hypocritical.
Anyone who tries to supress your true free self is not your friend
