Hi
Well bro, yu're looking to the average fee per month in any MMA school in California, so depending on you instructor(s) credentials it sounds reasonable, and about the 1 yr contract, that's also very common in any serious MMA Gym too.
I got the whole MMA package for 150 a month also unlimited training in all BJJ, Muay Thai and Boxing and I also paid a 1 time fee of 200 when I sign in, so it looks ok to me.
Good Luck and welcome to the MMA world, trust me once you got into the game it will be worth every penny.
Stay strong

Hey there, I'm not quite sure where your area is, but I know that the studio my friend went to does MMA, Kickboxing, Karate, BJJ, Tae Kwondo, Muay Thai and many others and per month they are not that expensive. Only around $100 - $110 to be able to partcipate in all their classes.

However my adivce to you is can you really learn all those arts? When I started martial arts I started with BJJ and Muay Thai I found that in the beginning I had no trouble at all in learning the basics of each but as the training became more advanced I started to struggle and needed to focus on one form of art, in the end I had to give it up.

With all do respect if your looking for variety in your sport why not do an aerobic work out like Thai Bo where it constantly changes. Or alternatively maybe focus on which type of art form appeals to the most and sign on for that. It will be cheaper and you would learn a lot more. Then when your a little more advanced you then could add another art form in.

I wish you the very best of luck!

$100 is typical for BJJ training per month some Gracie gyms are higher in Los Angeles. Contracts are contracts, one year is not bad, can you opt to go month to month at the same price once your contract is up?

In the world of martial arts gym management realizes a majority of students quit after their first few months or a belt or two. Lots enter door but many leave soon there after even fewer train consistently for long periods of time.

I would investigate the instructor’s backgrounds. Who are they, where did they train. If you are going after MMA knowledge did they fight, what was their personal history in the sport and art? Do they have submission grappling or full contact experience. Also spend sometime auditing classes. They should allow you a free roll or at least the opportunity to watch some classes and coaching in action. Watch and note their attitude, training style, communications and direction of their classes. Do you like their style of teaching. Does this gym feel right to you. Are you comfortable here? These are questions to ask yourself as you interview this school. Also visit other schools, you can’t compare what you don’t know about.

Note who teaches each class and speak to them about your goals, questions and concerns.

You are going to end up spending a lot of time around these people so you should like and enjoy their company. There are probably great people with great backgrounds but find out and get to know them personally if you can.

If you feel unwanted, weird, or mistreated walk away. They should be appreciative of your interest and address your concerns accordingly.

You should enjoy your growth throughout your martial arts experience because the journey is the thing that matters most not just destination.

I hope this helps.

you didn't say what area your in, but out here in California mma is so popular that there are a lot more people training than ever before, some of the better schools even have a waiting list, and I noticed prices have gone up a bit out here your going to pay 130 to 180 a month, and same thing you have to sign a one year contract which they call a package deal, so I would say as long as it is clean has good teachers that you get along with and can learn from then that's about standard price!

I am not sure what part of the country you are in but some very good gyms and schools charge more than that even. I would look at the level of instruction and also figure in my gas money if I was working out at two different places like a gym for lifting and a martial arts school halfway across town. Based on that along with the time saved by working out at one place and having only one membership or fee it may not be a bad deal.

I would also get a copy of the schedule of classes and if I was joining for a particular class like Sambo make sure that I could get out of the contract if they ever discontinued it or the instructor left.

I think that's a pretty decent offer. BJJ is sooooooooooo much fun, and if it's unlimited I'd say heck yes. Kickboxing looks like fun also, though I've never had any experience in it, and my instructors are obsessed with mma, so yeah. But I'd say go for it, I'm in tkd, bjj, and krav maga classes for around that price, but it's not unlimited....
But seriousely, I'd say have at it. :)

That sounds pretty steep to me. If I were you, I would check around some more. A lot of people are trying to ride the MMA wave right now. There are a lot of schools out there, and a wide range of fees. Wherever you go, make sure you are getting what you are paying for. Promises are easily broken, contracts aren't.

it depends on how much time you're gonna actually go to that gym and are they gonna have the classes you want to go to at the times you can. i wouldn't say that it's too much if the guys are legit and not just trying to make a $$$. but if you're planning to go every day or so, and planning to get into any MMA venue, then it might actually be worth it. i know a place in jacksonville,fl that charges $100 a month so it might not be a bad price. but it seriously depends on how you're gonna use it.

If you don't already work out ALOT don't do it. But if you work out 5-7 times a week and the gym is in a convenient area for you go for it. Make sure to find out what are the terms of canceling the contract.

No, not for unlimited classes in a nice facility with good instructors.

A small price to pay for such a valuable amount of knowledge and technique in return.
