History teaches us that no other cause has brought more death than the word of god.

I'd say nothing brings more death than people each claiming to know the "real" word of a deity and saying that everyone esle is wrong and going to hell for it.

I disagree with that. I think if you look at other causes of war and other causes of death, you will find that there are many, many cases that have nothing to do with the "word of God" or religion at all. Besides, this also changes if you define the word of God as the Torah, the Bible, and the Qu'ran. It all changes your grand totals. There were more people that were killed by the influenza outbreak in the early 1900s than were killed in WWI. If you add the deaths that were called by the black death, AIDS and HIV, and TB, then you have a number that is just barely believeable.

Which history book are you reading?

You need to broaden your literary diet.

We all die at some point, and that is God's plan, so you could argue that all natural deaths were brought on by God, so in that sense you might be correct. But your history author, is trying to say that the word of God is causing killing.

There is a LONG list of wars that were not caused by ANY religion, for starters, WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Spanish-American, Most of the medieval wars, China-Japan wars, not to mention the killing fields of Pol pot, the Chinese killing dissidents, or the atrocities of Stalin and many others.

It is common for some Atheist to just blindly follow propaganda that is not supported by fact as long as it paints Religion in a bad light, this is a BIG common misconception. Odd that people claim Christians are blind followers!

Do your own research, study the major wars, and look for the root causes, it is always EVIL, once in awhile this evil is thinly masked as a Religious cause to keep the evil people using it in power.

But mostly it is just Evil.

I would say that's wrong. Now when in the time of Noah he did destroy the world by flood through his word. I do not believe since then that his word is responsible for anything else. When Jesus returns then that will be true. God has a very large universe, like a doctor making his rounds. I do believe their is more out there than we think! Totally different question.

Mankind has killed and pillaged since time began. They have used property, money, sex and a variety of other reasons to get what they want. Religion as made by man has caused a great deal of death and terror. The religions that were created by man has very little to do with what God intended.
He did give us free will, which I'm sure He has regretted many times.

The word of man made gods Yes! The true universal God is never associated with death and violence and only showers mankind and all creation with pure healing energy.

It was true until the beginning of the 20th century, but it is not true now. Marx's erroneous economics has taken over that dubious honor, and is now by far the most expensive mistake that anyone has ever made in all of human history -- with tens of millions of lives lost, and trillions of dollars wasted.

Without the word of God - ALL would be dead!
(let alone "not ever alive" to begin with)

Yes, we would ALL be dead of war/famine and/or
sexually transmitted dissease.

So arrogant - we don't even know how
much religion/beleif has held back our
destructive ways - the more arrogant
we become, the more destroying will
happen with "no God" in life!
(We will do this to ourselves!)

You'll find out if you don't listen!
Please turn a different way!
Could you? HONEST warning.

It's a complex issue. You have to look at history and judge for yourself. Here's what I think (but it's just my opinion):

The church certainly has many thousands of gallons of blood on it's hands. Most of it can't be washed away by using the "corrupt individuals in power" card. Look no further than the witch hunts in Europe and America. Many women and children were tortured and murdered at the behest of the church leaders (and yes, the pope himself), and for literally no other reason than religious/superstitious furor, perfectly in line with the dogma of the time. Read about the Malleus Malificarum (see source).

Not true. If you really study history you see that nothing has brought more death than mans' lust for power, greed, prejudice and hate. It has been the basis of countless wars and crimes.
