Chocolate is not good for dogs no matter what kind because they cannot digest the cocoa.
Basically the darker the chocolate the more harmful it is. If your dog go a small piece of milk chocolate it probably would have no affect. If you gave your dog the same small piece of chocolate, but as dark chocolate it could kill the dog. Remember the darker the chocolate the more harmful and possibly fatal it can be.

Okay, to all you who say "It will kill your dog!" let me tell you something, follow the link that was given here and do some more research. I have a four year old wiener dog that has been eating chocolate her whole life. when we are done with a candy bar, she gets just a small bite of what's left. sometimes she get a few bites of candy bar. We never feed her dark choclolate however as the chemical is more potent. She has NEVER displayed any reaction to chocolate and will enjoy small quantities the rest of her life.

Well, my dog ate chocolate once, and he got the runs. It was a whole loaf of chocolate zucchini bread. When my mom called the vet she laughed at my mom's panic. My dog was a blue heeler. I have heard from friends that they feed their dogs chocolate regularly, though I'm not sure of the amount, and their dogs have lived for a long time. (15-17 years)

Chocolate, in doses, can be fatal for dogs because their stomachs cannot digest it. The dog I had growing up ate a half pound of white chocolate the night before she was to go in for surgery, so rather than having her tubes tied, she had her stomach pumped. Chocolate is essentially poison for dogs.

My Pug got into chocolate while we were not home. He ate a 1lb bar of chocolate. He was throwing up for more than 24 hours and the vet couldn't do anything for him. He almost died....NEVER give your dog chocolate.

Chocolate can and does kill dogs. You should never give it to them.Certain breeds are extremely sensitive to it, and it kills them in a very short period of time. If you insist on giving your dog "chocolate", you can go to PetCo, or Pet-Smart, and they have "chocolate" treats that are completely safe for your dog.

Ive been told that certain breeds can have a "reaction" (for lack of a better word) and actually die from too much chocolate. Ive heard this alot, and from vets, so I dont let my dog eat the stuff (altough shes stolen her fair share of choco bunnies during Easter, and still living)

1 bar of chocolate can kill a 7 pound dog! That should answer it for you. DO NOT feed your dog chocolate.
