The rapture is for the Bride only, First the dead in Christ will rise first & we which are alive & remain will be changed in the twinkling of the eye, Years ago I saw pictures where airplanes was falling out of the sky, & automobiles hitting trees, That is not the way the Rapture will take place, Christ will come in the spirit form first to receive his Bride up to the marriage supper Rev. 19:7-1, while Daniel's 70th week is going on, after the last 3 1/2 yrs. of That week which will be 3 1/2 yrs of great tribulation, then in Rev. 19:11-14 we see Christ & his Bride coming back to rule & reign for 1000 yrs on this earth.

Could be the political change that has something to do with your feelings. Not to disregard your belief on the rapture as Christians are to believe that's always close but remember back in 1999 under Democrat rule and the 99-00 computer meltdown scenario and the popularity of the Left Behind series. The rapture people believed was right around the corner.Nowadays we have the mayan calender 2012 thing approaching which will be under Democrat rule and nuclear and economic disasters looming. My mind goes to the bible and what it talks about with regards to angels treading the wine-press and reaping the harvest at the end of times. The comfort is God is in complete control and everything will happen according to His purpose.May the world be ready.

We normally use rapture to signify spiritual or emotional ecstasy. However, the more basic meaning of the word is “to seize, to transport.” End-of-the-world prophets use it in this latter sense. Matthew’s Gospel speaks of two women grinding meal; one is “taken” and the other is left (see 24:41). Literalists do not accept this as symbolic language, and they expect that at the end of time the just will be plucked from the earth by God (see 1 Thes 4:17). Bumper stickers read, “Are you ready for the rapture?” It is another example of taking symbolic language literally.
Jesus wants his followers to be prepared for his coming again in glory. That’s why he tells so many stories about being prepared at all times (for example, parables of the 10 bridesmaids and the servants entrusted with their master’s money—Matthew 25:1-30).
Over the centuries, some Christians have not heeded Jesus’ advice to avoid trying to pinpoint the day or the hour (Mark 13:5-7). St. Paul had trouble with a few Christians in Thessalonika whose interest in Christ’s second coming led them to become troublemakers in that Christian community (2 Thessalonians, Chapter Two). Every few years someone will convince a group of Christians that Jesus is coming soon, that they should quit their jobs, leave their families if necessary, sell their belongings and gather at some prearranged spot for a front seat at the Last Judgment. Thus far, such incidents have usually ended only in embarrassment that the predicted Second Coming did not occur at that time. In 1997, 39 people in the Heaven’s Gate cult died—most through group suicide as they prepared for the Lord’s return.
Secretly, I do hope:
"please let it be rapture (wiggle & giggle)...
Please Let it be Rapture (Wiggles & Giggles).
PLEASE LET IT BE RAPTURE (WIGGLY GIGGLY)"

I've always been of the opinion and belief that the "Rapture" of which you speak is really the taking of the 144,000, which is described in Revelations. What most readers fail to recognize, is that the 144,000 come from the Tribes of Israel. For those Christians who understand that they've been adopted into the House of Israel, they should be aware that Ephraim is NOT listed (neither is Dan, but that's an entirely different sermon). In other words, the "Christians" are not converted; it's those of the Jewish faith who accept Christ as the Messiah.

suewilli - you sound depressed. perhaps you should talk with someone about being 'sick of all this.' what you've said about wishing it were all over tonight could be construed as a veiled suicidal comment. life certainly doesn't have to be as bleak as you seem to think it is; in fact, no matter what your circumstances, life can be (probably should be!) a joyful experience.
please don't think i'm saying this because i'm happy all the time and don't also understand how miserable one can feel about life. i grew up with a bipolar mother, an alchoholic father, and have suffered (that's not too strong a word) with chronic depression all my life. help is available, and treatments, therapy, medication, are usually VERY effective against depression. please, please, please talk to someone (in person, not online!) about the way you're feeling. you'll be surprised at the difference this will make.

Well, first off, I don't believe what you call "rapture" will happen before the tribulation. Not only would that be unbiblical, it would also be irrational. According to the bible, after the tribulation, right before the final wrath, the believers will be "taken up" with Christ.

I think there are several theories about it, and they all seem fuzzy to me. If it happens, great, I hope to go. I don't think anyone can speak with absolute authority on this or know for sure if it is something that will ever really happen. And YES, I've read and done some study of Revealations.

I am with you. I grieve for family and friends that have no interest. They have no eyes that see.
Sometimes I feel so helpless. I'm battling this now. Yes , I am happy that I have been saved, but still I strive to reach the dead.
