I am not inspired, I certainly wouldn't kill a child of mine to demonstrate my faith in God.

I am inspired by Abraham's ability to go by faith rather than by his own understanding of things.

God's ways are not necessarily our ways. Many of the things God asks us to do are counter-intuitive. Love your enemies.... Love others as you love yourself.... these are things that do not generally occur to people on their own.

If we can go by faith and do these counter-intuitive things, our world improves vastly.
