No animosity when a same enemy and goal exists. Not very prevalent back in the bases either, but it does show sometimes with certain people.

My husband is active duty and just returned from Afghanistan. He made some really good friends in the National Guard. Most rational people have no animosity, but I am sure that it exists in certain situations.

The first sector that my company took over from was from an infantry company of the Massachusetts National Guard. They were very professional and had done an excellent job of maintaining control of there sector without inciting a bunch of anti-American sentiment within the local people. The National Guard battalion out of Georgia that the rest of our battalion relieved had done very little within the sector to to instill control. They didn't go south of two specific routes due to the ied threat leaving the overwhelming majority of the sector unpatrolled which left us having to start fresh in an area that was reported all secure which couldn't have been further from the truth.

People look down on guard and reserve because they aren't full time Army like regular active duty....that's why they are called Weekend Warriors. I can tell you in Iraq, they are all doing the same work....

Good, nobody cares about whether your active, National Gaurd, or reserve. It's the job you do and how well you do it.
The worst National Guardsmen ever get revolves around guys in their 40s who are just specialists.
