If it is just a little snug, you definitely do not want to lose 15-20 lbs. What I owuld suggest is to just tone up. Do some toning excercises everyday or 3 times a week to tone the problem areas, by the time the wedding roles around I am sure the dress will fit. But try it on from time to time because if you need alteration start a few months before not 3 weeks!!

I'm about to go on weight watchers. Very sensible, easy to follow, and its a lifestyle, not a diet. I know several people who have had a lot of success with it. To start, I have cut out soda and alcohol and cut back on refined sugars to almost non existant. Cut back on sodium as well. I've only been drinking water. (If I should only have so many calories a day, I'm sure not going to drink all of them). And I've been walking 2 miles just about every day. Its been almost 2 weeks, so I'm not sure about results yet, but I'll let you know! Good luck. 15-20 pounds in a year should be cake. Most people try to lose that much in a few months. If you just start drinking only water, you'll probably lose at least 5 pounds. Small changes should be all you need to do. Just focus on being a little healthier. It will help with your stress level anyway.

if it's a little snug, you will need to get about two sizes smaller before the wedding if you lose that much. That's about how much I lost after I had my baby and it made a difference of about 2 full sizes. If it is truly just a little snug, you probably only need to lose about 5 lbs. BUT it depends on WHERE it is "snug". If it's just snug in the bodice and you are carying your weight in the butt & thighs there might be NO WAY to lose it in the right spot. Or if it's snug in the waist, there is no guarantee that you will lose weight where you want to lose weight.
Your best bet, don't focus on losing weight. get a dress that fits the largest part of your body and have the rest altered. THAT is the best way to get the most flattering fit.

1st- you will HAVE to go earlier than 3 weeks before to have this done....otherwise, I wouldn't count on having it back in time. Especially if your wedding happens to be around a prom season or major wedding time, seamstresses will already be overwhelmed. you need to go at least 2 months before!
Now, to lose 15-20, cut out things like coke or other sodas, they are empty calories....switch to water. Its better for you and the water will actually help in flushing some fat cells out a lot better than cola will, not to mention staying properly hydrated will boost your metabolism. The thing is mostly portion control. Instead of goin to mcdonalds and ordering a full size big mac meal, get the kids meal instead, its actually the portion we are supposed to be eating! (plus it will save bug $$!) stop eating when you feel full. Avoid really high fat stuff, deep fried is a no-no. eat your biggest meal at lunch and try not to eat at all after about 7pm. A lot of people will eat later at night and your body doesn't have time to burn these calories before sleeping so it goes strait to fat. by eating bigger meals earlier in the day, you avoid that problem. Start walking and doing light excersize. start small, and work your way up. Starting to heavy will do nothing but make you sore and cause you to be discouraged. Hope some of these tips help!

If you possess a basic fitness level, ie: you can run three miles without stopping, I would suggest training for a half marathon...
I know it sounds quite daunting, but you fitness level will dramatically improve. you can find excellent training programs online. I am following the one below..it really is fool proof, you wouldnt believe how far you can run even in the early weeks.
but don't just do it for the wedding! Running will really change your life for the better. I started running months before I became engaged and it has really become a major factor in my lifestyle
even if you don't want to run a half, you could train for a 10 K or a 5 K, and then train for the half...
the price is right too! just get a GOOD sports bra and good shoes!
best of luck!

Well, you can't wait until 3 weeks before the wedding to get it altered. It takes longer than that to have it done. I took a bridesmaid dress to have it hemmed, let out on the side and taken in on the top and it took over 3 weeks. Go at least 6 weeks for a final fitting.

You should not wait until three weeks before the wedding to see if your dress needs altering (unless you have a personal seamstress who is devoitng her time to your dress.
As for the weight loss....you have plenty of time to see what works best for you. Personally, I lost 35lbs on the South Beach Diet. I don't really think it is a "diet". It is more of a lifestyle. It doesn't say you can only eat carbs or protein. Any diet that limits what you can eat is sure to backfire. Instead, it teaches you how to eat.... Whole wheat breads instead of white, sweet potato instead of regular, brown rice instead of white, etc. etc. etc. There are even recipes for yummy desserts.
In the end, the best way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you take in. So, pay attention to your caloric intake and exercise!
Good luck

Eat sensibly and exercise. Lots of cardio, cut back on simple sugars and carbs and stop eating junk. I know it's not fun, but it's the most sure-fire way to lose fat.
Just remember, as you approach your wedding, you'll be uber-stressed. Don't add stress by thinking you absolutely must meet a weight goal. If you do, great. But make sure they can let the dress out a little if you don't.

15-20 lbs is alot for a snug dress..... if you lose that much they will have to alter your dress!
Anyway- I keep in shape by avoiding sugary or processed foods, avoiding foods made with white flour (go whole grain), eating tons of fruits, veggies, and nuts, and eating organic when ever I can. I also workout for 30 min. at least 3 times a week.
Good luck and congrats!

If you lose 15-20 the gown will have to be taken in. If you seriously want to lose weight, start reading all the label of all the food you buy and don't eat anything that has high fructose corn syrup or monosodium glutamate (MSG) in it.
