True. Our MILITARY has never even come remotely close to losing a war. Of course, we've stopped fighting for political reasons on more than one occasion, however, our military has yet to lose.
I gave you thumbs down buddy. Read my post, politically we lost, but not militarilly.

i must say that there have been several wars where we were very close to losing revolutionary war being the first.
Technically we have not lost any wars at all. SO TRUE but we did lose vietnam but it was a huge moral defeat more than losing the war completely. We lost alot of men out there but it did not affect the US as a whole just those men that made the sacrifice and took orders.
We did lose morally because it looked so bad that we pulled out that we lost face with other countries. Seems like we are in the same situation again

True,
During the Vietnam War our military never lost a single battle. Our reason for going into Vietnam was to HALT the spread of Communism, it was not to STOP the spread of Communism. We managed to stave off a Soviet supported invasion of South Vietnam for more than a decade.

No? I suppose Custer's last stand was a picnic?
The American Civil War, somebody had to loose!!
The ALAMO ??
S. VIETNAM??
THE SOMALIA HOLIDAY!!
KOREA might be considered a draw.
IRAQ seems to be going into extra time.
Afghanistan, ditto.
Well I did add in a few battles to show the US were not always winning as Hollywood would have us believe, :-P
in reality the US has been involved in few wars and hardly any where she fought alone and could claim to be the out right champions.
Korea was a UN Action involving many countries.
WW1 had many combatants and the US only joined in about 1917.
WW2 was a multi country affair to for the Allies.
The main difference being the US has actually fought very little on its own soil, tending to take the fight to the enemy, then coming home to take the praise or the criticism of its people.

No the US military ha never lost a war. There were very few combat troops in South Viet Nam, when the North over ran it and took control, notice they waited till we left the country before launching a full scale invasion.
Custer's last stand was a battle not a war, the Alamo a battle not a war,Somalia not a war at all, civil war the USA won ,the CSA lost the south was not the USA at that time. conranger you need to learn the difference between a battle in a war and a war.

It depends upon what you define as war and if you consider expeditions and police actions "war".
The US Military has failed to achieve the stated objective in several - since failing to "win" can be said to be "losing" (there are no second place winners); then yes, the US has lost.
There will be then the answer that the US Military didn't ever lose anything. The military does what politicians say to do, it's the politicians that win or lose a war by either intervention or their failure to intervene.

You can't win a war (as a military or government) in which the people of the country are fighting for their freedom. People will keep fighting, they have nothing to lose. You'd have to kill every last one of them. And if you did that, i'd still have to hand it to the Vietnamese for fighting like that.

False, War of 1812 and Vietnam. Both of these were lost militarily and politically.
Unless the US military learns how to fight fire with fire, we will never overcome guerilla warfare.
