Nobody ever admits to being 2nd best, and secondly the job is dangerous. You can not go to war thinking your second best. Add to that the esprit de corps each branch installs in its personal and there you have your answer. Also it can be worked out mathamatically. See:

It's called Es Spirit de Corp...it is about having pride in you Service, Branch, Unit, and Self...why would you want to be in something that you did not think was the best?

i don't think they necessarily mean the people are better but that there supplies and treatment is better, everyone knows air force takes care of families the best and has the best bases, i've never seen an AF base without a golf course on it if that tells you anything!
