I found a good deal on 2 Remington model 58's. A 12 and a 16 gauge in fairly good condition for $300. Did they have any problems with these guns that anyone knows??

The model 58s are good, solid guns. I have never heard of any problems as long as they have been well maintained.

Break it down, check for abuse, rust or excessive wear. Baring that, you have two good boom sticks.

Tell me where that name comes from and you get a star!

As a Gunsmith and Gun Shop Owner/Appraiser, I can tell you without doubt the older Reminton Semi-auto shotguns are well made and had very few problems. You didn't advise which Model 58's you're buying (There are 5 variations of Model 58's) but I assume they are standard field grade. The Remington Model 58 had a long run of success being made from 1956 to1963 when they were discontinued. I would say unless you are a poor judge of condition you got a great deal. Parts are still available to replace most anything that could go wrong or wear out from age. They have no history of any problems to speak of. Good Luck!

I can tell you that yes you are getting a steal if you are buying those.
If they are used and have been used by the party you are buying them from I would suggest taking them to a firing range and trying them out. Check and clean at that point you will be able to see if they are the quality of the good name that stands behind them..

Those are pretty solid Shotguns, and seems a pretty good deal too if they are in good shape.
