The officiant should introduce you, something like "The groom's sister _____will now present a reading," or "will now read from The art of marriage from Wilferd Patterson." And then, yes, you just stand up and start reading. If the officiant doesn't state the name and author of the reading, you do it before you start reading. Best wishes!

if you're doing the reading during the ceremony, the officiant will probably have a time set up for you and should introduce it by sayign something like "and now the grrom's sister has a reading.." it should also be included in the program, so don't feel that you need to explain it or introdcue it if you're not comfortable doing so.
if you have a question about it, ask your brother what he and his fiancee plan to do, and if yours is the only reading, etc. that should help you out a lot.

i was chosen to do a reading at my uncles wedding aswell....but the bride chose the readings we did...if you can...ask the preist which one would be good...then you'll know its a good one....and the preist will anounce you at during the ceremony so you dont have to have an introduction...once he calls you up...you get the papers ready...and begin...say what you have to say....smile...make eye-contact and you're done as you are walking off-stage..turn around and bow (if you are told to) but it would be very formal if you do!!!
GOOD LUCK! and congratulate the couple for me!!!

You just go up and start right in. You give the title, and the author first.

you could give a short intro about why you chose that reading, especially if it pertains to the couple!
