Tony Stewart says whats on his mind. Some love him...others hate him. Why is it that a driver has to be so politcally correct and Mr.Goody Two Shoes.
A driver says "Sh!T" and the Nascar gods fine him?...ever heard of tape delay Nascar? I guess it's not who you know...it's who you _ low.
First it's excessive commercials that turn you away and next it's the Nascar Nazi police.

NASCAR is ruining the sport. It's called "political correctness"". If Jeff Burton held up a Palm Treo cell phone he'd probably be banned from driving a race. It's gotten so stupid when I heard Tony during the interview, I KNEW NASCAR would slobber all over themselves. Now, ESPN is instituting the "five second" delay in their broadcasts, so now we get to see the picture stop and start like on TNT and FOX.

They've told them time and time again not to swear on T.V. and I'm surprised NASCAR doesn't do tape delay but whatever. I've said this time and time again as well. Does it matter that he lost points? NO! Will it hurt him in the chase? NO! Are the points reset and the only things that matter are being in the top 12 and how many wins you've had? YES! Tony will not fall out of the top 12 and as it stands he is only 20 points out of first with a good chance to win 2 more races! When the chase starts is this even going to matter? NO!!!

NASCAR was forced to issue penalties to drivers for using profanity during interviews because of the FCC crackdown after the Janet Jackson/Super Bowl incident a few years ago. With both Ron Hornaday and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. being assessed penalties for swearing during an interview, the precedent was set. Tony knew full well that he would be fined for swearing on TV but he spoke his mind and had to pay the price. NASCAR has no choice but to penalize Stewart to stay consistant.
As for as the tape delay, thats the job of the network not NASCAR. The question was asked why there was not a delay for Stewarts interviews and ESPN's response is that they only use delays on replays and when broadcasting team communication, but wanted to keep interviews live. NASCAR was going to talk to ESPN to inquire about delays for interviews so that it can protect its drivers.

What goes for everyone else should go for Stewart too.
Junior got fined a couple years ago, & they've been busting Marlin (the Original Mr.Potty Mouth) since he started in Cup. (OK, there hasn't been reason to interview him in years, but still.....)
Time-delay or not, Nascar gets fined by the FCC for their participants using blue language on live TV.
Why should the sanctioning body have to pay the cost for a loose-lipped driver not minding his language?
It's been drilled into these guys over & over: "Watch your language, you represent US."

They should have a 10 second delay. Most people don't know what is going to come out of their mouths in the heat of the moment. In all fairness, all drivers that swear should get fined. They can't change the rules in midseason.

I think Tony needs a wake up call. The Sport does not revolve around him.
I think that Tony feels he is bigger than the sport. Period.
Tony has fans and his fans are not the only one's that puts up with **** at the track.
For years I have been a Gordon Fan. I have been all around the country to 10 different tracks to see races and I have received my fair share of verbal abuse to say the least. I don't cry about it and take it with a smile because I realize that people have there favorites. I can't help it if my favorite is not a redneck from the south, that he is from California or wins a lot. I deal with it as I am sure any man would. I think grown men become children at times and some like Tony have never really moved out of Childhood that is all.
I think that Tony is a good driver, but his attitude has always been a problem for Gibbs racing and his sponsor. He thinks that he is giving back to the fans by his comments but really he only hurts the whole picture.
You raise a great point of why there is no Tape Delay. I am sure Tony could be the one for the FCC to step in and mandate it and we would all love that as well
Gordon Rules.

I'm still floored when people think it's no big deal or can't understand why it is a big deal to cuss on a show that's rated 'G' like Nascar and the Superbowl etc. etc.
It doesn't carry an adult rating like 'The Sopranos' or something....OK!
It's against the rules. Period.
Also, Nascar has NOTHING to do with the broadcast. That's all ESPN's responsibility.

Honestly I really don't think that Nascar had any choice, because I rember when Jr said sh*t at Talladega a few years ago NASCAR fined him like 25 points and 25 grand.

Nascar started the fining for swearing after Dale Jr did after winnin Talley after Sr. Passed away. It was the heat of the moment. I think it is silly - they are interviewing these guys right off the track - heat of the moment - and there is no telling what might slip through.
