there is an older guy at work i found attractive but thought was rude, so avoided him. i decided to win him over because i do have to work with him sometimes. i am a very friendly, open person in general and NEVER crossed the line. we never touched remotely, were never close in proximity, or talked about anything to do with dating. i am generally a good girl who just wants to be cool with people. i do not wear revealing clothes at my job, yet he was always checking out my boobs, in an obvious way, which made me uncomfy, so i always crossed my arms in fact. one day he started saying hi and since we joke around, on my break, i went up and said hi at his cubicle. i was like i just came to say hi and he says, "hi" obnoxiously. i told him he was giving me a mean look and he starts babbling about the color printer. i get curt and leave, embarassed and annoyed at how arrogant he was towards me. i have been ignoring him and now he always stared at me (non-sexually) and holds the door open?

Unfortunately you have fallen into a trap that could get you fired. This is not high school. Don't be stopping by anyone's cubicle and don't encourage anyone to stop by yours.

I think that you are sending mixed messages, you say that you are really friendly and that you are a good girl. You are defending yourself prior to your staement, that means you feel a little guilty. You obviously know he as at least attracted to you, so you go out of your way to talk to him. Why would you need to win him over, isnt he the older rude guy that you previously avoided. Get your story stright no one can give you advice on how to make a guy not attracted to you. Never ever try to be friends or get on a personal level with any co-worker it will never turn out right. Take it as a lesson learned, and move on. Good Luck

I think if he is looking @ you in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, then that is sexual harassment. Period. Anytime a coworker makes you uncomfortable than that is harassment, especially since he stares at your boobs. If you don't want to report him (and believe me I know it is easier said than done,) then just be civil when you see him but don't be overfriendly. He obviously doesn't know how to read women.

Sounds like you might heave lead him on with out knowing it. It happens. Just stay away from him. When he says hello at break or something just say "hi" and walk away. He will eventually get the hint.

if you're uncomfortable, just avoid him. He's probably just a little weird, doesn't have good people skills, whatever
