Of course you should date. Just because you are dating doesn't mean you've forgotten your child. Enjoy life while its here.

That's just silly. Dr. Laura is most likely not a mother, and if she is, she's probably not a single mother. You have to live your life for yourself and your child. There is nothing wrong with dating. I would be very selective since you have an impressionable child, get good childcare if you need it and date a guy at least 2 months before you introduce him to your child. You want to be careful that you don't have men running in and out of her life. And there is no saying that you have to date strictly looking for a husband. Go out and have some fun, date multiple guys if you want (I said date, not have sex with) and until or unless you meet someone special enough to deserve you and deserve being in your life, then let him meet your daughter. Until then just have some fun - you're a single mom, you aren't dead. Good luck

Why would this even be a question? Whoever Dr. Laura is, I very much doubt that she practices what she preaches. You have a right to a life. Of course you have to more careful who you introduce to your daughter and who you have stay over. I don't think that you being lonely will do anything positive for you daughter.

I think waiting until they're out of the house is totally absurd. I'm a single parent of teenagers (youngest is 12) and they want mom happy. Mom wants to be happy too! Take care of yourself and have some fun. The hell with Dr. Laura.

Dr. Laura is a crackpot. It's totally acceptable for you to date and have a life as long as you consider your child's best interest...

Of course you should date. You have a child. That doesn't make you a spinster. Have a great time, just be careful about who you let around your daughter is all. You can enjoy yourself without involving your child until you know it will be a lasting relationship.

Of course... Why wouldnt you date? You are entitled to being happy as well, are you not?
I would love if my single mom would start dating... I hope she is, even secretly. I would be very happy to find that someone is making her happy in her spare time.
