Yes, there is a conflict at the boarder, indeed:
From the Greek side there are troops under the leadership of the marbled king, who just woke up after a nap of 550 years, and from the Turkish side the phantom of Mehmet the 2nd with thousands of Yeniceri soldiers, throwing at each other arrows and boiled oil, and fighting about who makes better cacik and baklava.....

It depends a lot on your nationality. Greece is part of the EU so if you are not an EU citizen you may need a visa.
There are no unusual restrictions on people passing through the border from Turkey to Greece or vice versa.
I think what you heard is not true.

Excuse me,i go often to Marmaris, i am greek, i only use my passport without problems, also to Istanbul..For the turkish citizens a visa is required. For the citizens with blue passport it is harder, for those with green(academic, doctors etx)eaiser, but usually they give it.
Millions of tourists go to Greece from Turkey everyday and viceversa without any problem from the turkish or greek authorities...

You wont be allowed to. Your eu passport does not count very plenty while Greece is in question: many united states of america, Canada and Australia passport holders are no longer allowed to pass into Hellass reason of their Macedonian ethnicity !

There is no problem whatsoever. There used to be a problem crossing to the occupied part of North Cyprus, but even this is possible now.

Here is the thing:
Getting in to Greece from Turkey and vice versa with drugs, weapons of mass destruction, threatening public safety or as an illegal immigrant is for the most part...OK! Who cares really...
As a tourist, we do have some issues dude... such as: which country you gonna pick up first or why the heck would you go there and not stay here with us or who told you there is another country across the "ocean" and damn we are better cooks than they do and yadda-yadda-yadda...:)
In other words: take it easy. So do we!
