My daughter is 13 months old (10 month adjusted, she was 3 months premature) her dr. wants her transitioned off formula and on whole milk. Do I put whole milk in bottle or in sippy cup? I heard it is harder take the bottle away if you put anything else besides formula in bottle. She will drink 4-6 oz of formula from bottle after meals but hardly any whole milk from sippy cup at meals. What do you do with juice? Help!

What difference does it make ? Whatever she likes. It's not hard to switch. You're over-analyzing.

My daughter is now 17 months and when she was 12-13mos, I tried making the switch to whole milk in the sippy cup, but it did not work. She didn't like the taste of wm, so I decided to do a little formula and wm together in a bottle. The intial taste wasn't too pleasing to her, but I continued to stand my ground with the 1/2 & 1/2. She is only given a little juice diluted w/water. My daughter does not like the sippy cup. She drinks from a regular cup and the transition from the bottle to a reg. cup was done in one day. I couldn't believe it. My pediatrician said that juice isn't really necessary, she eats a lot of fresh fruits instead. She's allergic to milk, so I tried to find foods rich in calcium.Try the sippy cup every time she eats. Hope this helps.

It just takes time and they will pick it up when they are ready. You can put the milk in the sippy cup and it shouldn't be a problem. There is a brand called "NUBY" that has a soft sippy spout that works really well. I have 13 month old as well and am going through the same thing. You just have to be patient and let them adjust on their own, however the more you present it to them, (the sippy) the faster they will make the switch. Hope this helps.

My son was almost 3 months early and I had a hard time getting him to take a sippy. Go to Target or Walmart and get the NUBY bottles with the silicone nipple that is shaped like a sippy spout. This made it easier for him to learn to take a regular sippy cup. My son will be 3 in a couple of weeks and no delays at all.

I agree w/ the previous posts- try starting your child on the Nuby, or other soft spout sippy cups since they're more like a bottle and easier to switch to. I quit cold turkey w/ my son on the bottle right after his first birthday and he put up a bit of a fuss on the first day, but after he got used to the cup he was fine. With juice do half water and half apple juice or whatever juice you use- just be sure not to give more than 4 oz. per day to start off.

whilst my daughter became transitioning from a bottle to a sippy cup i offered nuby mushy nipple sippy cups. They have been an straightforward transition and she or he took suitable to them. a pair months down the line i've got been given her problematical plastic spout sippy cups and threw the nubys away. Now she takes a familiar sippy cup comfortably.

If you're using a sippy cup with a non-spill valve, try giving it to her without the valve until she gets the hang of it. You will also have to help her with it and hold it for her as the milk will flow out too quickly without the valve. You also have to be prepared for some spills and messes. Once she gets used to it, you can give it to her with the non-spill valve in place. This is what I did when I first started giving water in sippy cups to my kids (who were breatfed). They eventually went to drinking whole milk in the sippy cups too.

Get her off the bottle put all fluids in the sippy cup, be sure to let her drink from an open cup too so she doens't get so attached to the cup either

I have heard that just taking the bottle away, and only having sippy cups will work once she realizes there is no more bottle.

Try the Nuby from walmart. Soft nipple like a bottle but they look like a cup. They are easier to drink from .
I bought my daughter the elmo ones and they are so hard to drink from. i had to wait with those.
