How does the story of Sodom and Gamorah teach against homosexuality when the men knocking on Lot's door didn't want to 'know' other men, they wanted to 'know' the angels, which are not part of the human spicies?

Doesn't this prescribe agaisnt sleeping with angles. Isn't the moral that it was OK for Lot's daughters to be raped but not OK for man-on-angel sex?

Where is the evidence that there was rampant homosexuality in S&G? I don't see any. This story is clearly about sex with angels. I mean, a man sleeping with a female horse isn't heterosexul any more than a man sleeping with a male outside of the human species (eg, an angel) is about homosexuality.

Wanzanna: you need to re-check the definition of rape. If your dad offered you up without seeking your consent, and I 'knew you', what would you call that?

You're right.

The Sodom and Gomorrah story does not make condemnations agasint gay people. Fundamentalists like to twist the bible to suit their own political agendas. They twist this story around to make it seem like it condemns gay people.

The Sodom and Gomorrah story is about rape, not about homosexuality. Back then "hospitality to strangers" was super-important in their culture. When a stranger came to your town/house, you were supposed to feed him and treat him like a king.

The evil people of Sodom got together and wanted to rape the angels who went to Lot's house: I'd say rape is a pretty inhospitiable greeting.

Plus it clearly says that "everybody" in the town was there: old ladies, little kids, teen agers, grown men. You can't tell me they were ALL gay.

They were str8 men who wanted to do something wicked and evil to Lot's visitors: rape them to show how nasty they could be. That's why God destroyed Sodom. Not because there were gay people there looking for a Pottery Barn to shop in. Duh.

You said it yourself, that encounter a decade ago of Cena shaking Undertaker's hand was pretty significant. Though, that can't certainly be the only reason why the match is "destined" to happen. We all consider Cena as the top guy in the company. That is universally accepted and true. I clearly recognize the guy's uniqueness in the company, being able to handle ANY crowd, and always being able to get a reaction. Undertaker has done that as well. Cena has been here young and strong for a decade, and he really still is aside from minor injuries. The guy is controversially at his prime, some may say years ago, some may say years to come. When any superstar is in such a position, you know he's special. Finally, Cena doesn't lose cleanly. Only rarely. Same applies to Undertaker, especially at WrestleMania, of course. Cena's gimmick is plain and simple- never give up. The classic moral we find in nearly every story, never ever give up. Being applied to the wrestling world of course made it seem idealistic and unreal, in the sense that only superheroes can obtain that gimmick and make it work. Nobody else had this gimmick and been able to work it as finely as Cena. Except for Undertaker. Put these two megastars in the main event at Mania, and you're calling for a very unpredictable anything goes match. This is the one match people are completely scared of, and this is why it must happen. The IWC can ***** all they want about Cena potentially ruining the streak, but that's the whole ******* point. These type of matches are best when nobody but the two wrestlers and Vince know the outcome. Bleacher Report will rehash rumor and speculation articles for months, and not a single one of these articles will provide a solid, definite proof that either one will win. Punk vs Taker was very obvious. This match won't be. Considering also how Undertaker and Cena are the best at "sudden kick outs", this is a match where everybody will be on the edge of their seat. I expect great things from this match which I feel very certain to happen. And if this turns into an I quit match, well, I'll let somebody else explain it since that's a whole another level of surprise.

The people of Sodom and Gomorrah totally turned their backs on God for the kind of sex that God said was wrong - homosexuality. The men in Sodom(is it the right town?) saw the angels as fresh meat since they have done all the other men in the town.

James, angels(from heaven who worship God) do not have sex , they do not need it - they are immortal.
A man having sex with a another man(or a woman with another woman) is homosexuality.

About Lot giving up his daughters, the angels were there in God's stead. They were there to do God's bidding which was to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. The angels had just been up in heaven with God Himself. Being the righteous man Lot was he wouldn't let the men even touch the garments of the angels so he offered up his daughters. Lot loved God so much that he couldn't imagine God's messengers being sent out to assuage the crowds' hunger for the angels(they looked like men, duh). Love for God is above all else, spouse, children, or even little Cujo. This is kinda like when Abraham was going to kill Isaac; Like Abraham proved his obedience to God, Lot showed that God and his messengers and henchangels(the ones that do the dirty work) are #1 in his life.

Wanzanna, it is rape when you have no choice in the matter. Of course, if you get your thrills by being gang-raped that is your taste and don't forget the blood, and pain from being torn up inside, go for it gal!

The narrative of Sodom and Gomorrah begins in Genesis 18.
Three MEN came and visited Abraham and Sarah. These were the men who went to Sodom and Gomorrah. They turned out to be angelic beings, but there are many places in scripture where we find angels have the ability to appear as men.

Lot had been vexed in the spirit because of the sexual immorality all around him in the Valley of Siddim. His inhibitions had been lowered, and he placed his own values on fornication and rape. He was righteous enough to offer protection for the angels, but compromised his faith when it came to his daughters. Such is the case with anyone that lives in a promiscuous society.

To "know them" Lot said to not do this wicked thing. Genesis 18:20-22 says that the men visiting Abraham headed to S&G. Genesis 13:13 says the men of Sodom were wicked sinners exceedingly before the Lord. The word KNOW in chapter 19 is consistent with intimate sexual knowledge as Adm knew his wife and she conceived, earlier in Genesis.
Study the Hebrew, and it becomes clear what the men of Sodom wanted.

I have the one and only true answer to your question. The story about Sodom and Gomorrah is about real normal cities that allowed homosexuality to run rampant by not following God's law about keeping homosexuality from spreading like a cancer in their cities. It grew and spread to the point that the Gay's out numbered the heterosexuals and took control of the cities by force. God upon hearing the pleas for help from the few heterosexuals left sent angels who took on the appearance of normal human men to destroy the cities with atomic bombs that God had the knowledge to make and use at that time. The Gay's of the town saw these strangers enter the town and go into Lot's house. They approached and surrounded Lot's house wanting these men,(not knowing they were angels of God), to come out so they could gang rape,("know"), them against their will. Lot realizing that these were angels and not men and were there to destroy the cities because of the rampant homosexuality panicked and as a unwilling drastic measure offered his virgin daughters instead which the Gay's refused. Then the angels used a advanced electric bright light to scare the crowd of Gay's away from Lot's house. They then ordered Lot to get his wife, daughters and himself out of the cities they were about to destroy by atomic bombs. The angels told Lot and his family not to look back because the angels did not want any human eye witnesses to see and write about what had taken place. That is why the angels turned Lot's wife into a piller of salt when she turned around to see what was happening. I truly believe that the angels would have done the same to Lot and his daughters if they also would have turned around to witness the method of destruction the angels used to destroy these cities.

The people of Sodom and Gomorrah did not know that these messengers were angels...it clearly states wanting to know...MEN....

the offering of Lot's daughters..this was a dumb idea on his part but so was moving to that area.....be aware of the custom of the time regarding the protection of a stranger under ones roof....it was a very important custom and one that was not disregarded...all guests were treated as king in your home..

Evidence?? read the whole story and it is very clear.... the moral was the whole area was destroyed because of sin, sexual perversion, evil.....

Is that such a difficult concept to comprehend???

The story of S&G wasn't about homosexuality at all, it was about inhospitality and rudeness towards guests. It was also rape (that would be the "sexual immorality" described in other parts of the Bible in reference to S&G), but there was nothing about homosexuals or homosexuality.

Read the story again . . and read the chapter that preceeds it.

Sodom and Gomorrah isn't about homosexuality . . . it's about how to treat strangers with hospitality and how not to treat strangers.

It just shows how sick they were; I would assume the angels looked really good to them. Maybe the angels looked very much like human men.

1.) that's were the word Sodomy came from..duh

2.) the sodomite's didn't know they were angles they thought they were "men" they did not believe in God so how could they believe in the concept of angles? therefore they wanted "gay" sex.

3.) its not a "abomination for a man to sleep with a woman, Lot did not say "rape" my daughter he offered them to sleep with them rather then the angles

4.) Lot was also a man who in my opinion made a bad mistake to offer his daughters to those people, God how ever would not allow it and blinded the sodomites and protected them
