Because many get deleted and have to start anew
I'm one of the lucky ones that hasn't been reported 7000 times. I'm expecting it soon though, probably the day before I reach Level 7

I have one that is a little older than a year now. So far I've had only one user file an abuse against me (that in hindsight I thought was deserved). Many other regulars have had accounts deleted for reasons I think are petty.
I think one reason so many accounts are new is that Y!A has had a lot of growth. There really are a lot of new people here.

I love how so many people blame "the ones 'overusing' the reporting button" rather than at least being honest and admitting that they violated the guidelines too much with their language, insinuations, gestures, and such.
If I disagree with or don't like someone's opinion, the worst I do is give 'em a thumbs down.

Mine's older, but then again I wasn't on here for almost a year. I think so many are banned because they say offensive things about others rather than discussing the issues civilly.

because people here have a low tolerance for ideas that are not thier own.
generally the fundies try to delete everything they don't agree with. now you see what would happen if they ever took total control over the world and got thier way.
people would be deleted in mass numbers.

Probably because many of them got deleted for inappropriate conduct and they had to create new ones. I, however, didn't become a member of Yahoo Answers until May of '07. Don't know why I didn't join earlier.

Because most of us have gotten our accounts deleted at some point in history because the other side of the argument saw something they didn't like and complained to the Yahoo people.

Oddly, I am one who had to start anew due being reported by atheists, whose hearts were pricked at the preaching of the Word.
I'm well on my way again, and I'll start over again when the time comes.
I looked at your profile, and want to say:
Peace to you and your house in the name of Christ Jesus!

Mine is!!! It's because so many people get abusive and keep getting their accounts deleted. Al Shaiden (or whatever his name is) is a prime example. So is Cheese and Rice. Both become abusive to people, get reported and get deleted.

Overzealous use of the report abuse button has lead to many people having accounts deleted, purely because someone disagreed with them and couldn't refute their arguments in a mature manner.
