So after high school I got this ok job as a clerk at the grocery store in our town, but with the plant shutting down and the hurricane, people started moving away and I just think I might be better some place else. I absolutely love Desparate Housewives, The O. C. and Laguna Beach so it got me to thinking, maybe there is a Piggly Wiggly position in Los Angeles. I am trying to convince my Mom that this would be a good move for her too, but someone stole the wheels off our home, so she says that is OUT. What is California like???

TGIF GUYS--- This is a make up question due to my vacation absense last week.

Well, as if.......
I moved here just last year after living in South Dakota all of my life. I am 32 and decided to follow my dream of living in Southern California. I still do not have a perm. place to live as I am working as a temp and hoping to go on auditions soon. so far no one has called me except on guy who thought I had potential as a model. But we have a date set up as he wants to get to know me better.
But it has had its hardships. My EX husband has just finalized the divorce and the courts have just awarded him full custody. I do not think that is fair because I will be a star some day and then he will be sorry.
Because you sound like my kind of person, I would like to offer my apartment...we could be room mates. I am now living in North Hollywood just by the freeway 134. E-mail me if you are interested. I have missed two months of rent but you could pay it while I get my next temp job.

It's tough living in L.A. It's an extremely superficial culture where cars are king, so if you don't have the cash to flaunt yourself in a certain way, you feel a little bit left out. You can't do anything without a good, well-running car. You spend a ton of money on gas, and people in general are very pretentious. There are lots of cool people too, don't get me wrong, but a lot of people who actually live in Los Angeles (not surrounding places like Pasadena, the valley, etc), are either a) actors b) screenwriters c) musicians d) artists, etc., so they are always trying to promote themselves. Many people here only talk about theirselves because it is such a land of self-promotion.

So, if I were you, I would pick a place that is more friendly and down-to-earth and affordable, like Portland Oregon or maybe Boston. But if you HAVE to move to Los Angeles, move to a place like Pasadena or Glendale. They are right next to L.A. but more friendly and easy to get around in. Good luck!

Paris, Dahling I've missed you so much. of course you should skip right out to Los Angeles as soon as humanly possible. If things don't work out at piggly wiggly there will always be a mop job for you at my Hot new restaurant of the stars in West Hollyrude. Its a combination Mexican and soul food cuisine and i have cleverly dubbed it "nacho mama" Well I have to dash dahling but before you come out drop me a line at "Rick S care of general delivery El Segundo California and I will make all the arrangements.

Wow, I love LA but am not interested in those shows at all, and completely embarrassed as a human by what I have seen of Laguna Beach.

LA is another place where people live. It has the highest per capita college graduates of any area in the country (I'm assuming they didn't count the illegals.) There are many neat an interesting things to do and people to meet in the 2nd largest city in the USA.

But it can be a big challenge, it is expensive, and like any change in life, it will change you and you will grow with it.

I wouldn't bring your Mom, this is your dream, not hers.

Good Luck!

More than one young lady has done the same thing. I'd give up the job anyway. It's not going anywhere. However LA is very pricey place, big, and hard to make it with out contacts. For every Eva Longora, there are 50 working in the hills on the next Max Hardcore XXX film. If hope to just walk down Hollywood and have a rich guy marry you? It's not going to happen.

what i think is that some people like it their and some don't,if you don't like it a The Piggly Wiggly sure go then after a few months make sure you like it their if not move back. Remember this is a big decision.Hope you make the right one and only you know what it is ; ) .

P:S You wont see any stars unless you live in La or Hollywood.

Those TV shows aren't real----you need to face that. I live in a tiny condo and am now about to retrain for my 3rd career because I can't earn a living in my first two careers here in L.A.

That's reality. Things can be very tough here. If you want to move here go to school to be a medical assistant, save up $3,500.00 for your first month, last month, and security deposit for your apartment, buy a reliable car, and come here with more job skills than you have now. Read the L.A. Times online to find out what it's really like here.

Sure, c'mon out. You can sleep on my couch.

We don't have Piggly Wiggly's, but don't worry about finding a job. You'll be "discovered" within a month, guaranteed. Everyone is.

You have to go to cali. My uncle went there and lives by LA in a place called lancaster he says it looks just like back home in oklahoma and they are bilding a new walmart. you could get a job there easy. I just graduated this year and i want to come to cali to but my mom wont let me go either but my uncle said not to listen to her. i can come out and stay with him after he gets out of jail. my mom dont understand. if i could just meet Chase from laguna beach he would want to go out with me instead if that tramp Tessa. I could sing in his band and try out for American idol. Maybe we could go out to Cali togather and be roommates.what do you think? I'll ask my uncle if we can both stay with him the next time he calls mom to send him more money.

that's a ritual Colombian dance of fertility, they studied how those sensual bovines made love and copied the tenderness and compassion of those somewhat sensual animals, a minimum of that's what we've been taught in Arkansas.
