Why use Craiglist over Ebay?

It's basically a go to site to place ads, and reaches a lot of people.

They keep it simple and don't charge you for most things like Ebay does. Also, with E-bay, it's more about selling and buying. Craigslist is about a variety of things like jobs, discussion forums, items for sale, items wanted, free stuff, etc. Still Ebay can connect you to people farther away because they ship the goods to you (usually). With Craigslist, you will most likely deal with people locally.

I'd say the target audience is the general public. Anyone can use it and benefit from it. I guess Craigslist is basically more personal...not so much about about business or merchandise.

Craiglist is Free of ads!! It is simple and easy to find stuff! Especially if you are going to a new city and want to find stuff, this is the Best place! The Free Stuff link in craiglist is also very good.. atleast for US cities.. It is yet to get popular in India. I know I posted an Ad for Land Sale and got huge responses from Indian's living abroad as they trust people who use Criaglist.

Another reason for Craigslist over eBay is that you only have to pay a fee if you post a job available ad or business ad. Everything else is free to post. That means a lot to some people since eBay has been raising fees.

Craig's List is a community posting board. It's main advantage over similar sites is that it is free to most users. There is fee to post job openings, but the fee is much less than other sites.
Another advantage is that the site is sorted by specific locations, to appeal to users within a precise geographic location.

Craigslist is focused on particular cities. You can buy and sell things, including services, in your own city. That's a big advantage over ebay for things that don't ship well. Things like services, cars, dirt, flowers, etc.

Mostly we're about people helping each other out with everyday basics, like getting a job or a place to live.

Our audience is pretty much everybody.
