My husband and I have two burgundy, leather, Lay Z Boy recliners and a couch in our living room. They are about 7 years old and still in great shape. My husband will not part with his, but I am ready for something new. What should I replace it with. Also, are recliners totally "out of style." Someone made that comment to me a while back.

I love our recliners, I dont care if they are out of style, they are so worth it. As long as it isnt some 70s green fabric color than I think they are fine, I dont know if anything else would be as comfy. But a chaise lounge or loveseat could be alternate options.

Recliners will never be out of style, because it is a choice of whoever wants one. Today the recliners are made in so many styles and the choices are more that ever. As for you, go to the store, and sit in a few chairs and see what you feel most comfortable in, The barrel shape, The straight back shape, Or a different recliner.

If recliners were out of style, why would the furniture stores keep sellling them? I have a furniture store that I have frequented many times & I always see lots of new recliners. I asked the sales lady about all the new recliners, & she said they keep them in stock as people are buying them left & right. I bought my fiance a really nice Lazy Boy recliner (sage green) last fall & he would never part with it. They now have out a chair & a half, called the "big chair" & they look really comfy, especially the ones that have the microfiber material.

You can get recliners from Lazy Boy that look nothing like a recliner. In fact, they look like club charis. I would have to say that the traditional style recliners are definitely out of vogue.

It all depends on how you decorate your house. If your living room is like a den, with a fire place, wood trimmings, or brick walls then the recliner is deff. not out of style. Also they look classy in a sleek, living room. (I.e if your living room has glass coffee tables with metal legs, broad open windows, plasma screen and or book shelf and a leather sofa.) In my opinion it's your house, and as long as you think it looks good you shouldn't care what a person thinks about it, after all you're living there, not them.

Good luck!

I don't think recliners are out of style. They seem to be building them into a lot of sofas now.

Doesn't matter, though. My husband won't part with his, either.

My husband doesn't want to part with his recliner either! We are moving and I wouldn't mind it if the recliners stayed behind...

Who cares about today's style. sit down and relax. they have been around for many years, I don't think they will go out of style anytime soon. Change the seen around the chair, such as paint the wall. put a palm tree next to it or maybe a new lamp, but Don't mess with the man's chair Please!! Unless of course you get him a new one. With the lift option and a massager temp control auto matic remote control refrigerator you know like the BinFord 2000 model.

As far as I'm concerned, if it's comfortable and in good shape, 'in-style' or not makes no difference.

But if you want something different, what about re-upholstering your furniture? It would be cheaper, and you would still have something with quality that you trust.
