In 1972 the Jehovah's Witness Watchtower claimed to be the prophet of God.

IDENTIFYING THE "PROPHET" -- "So does Jehovah have a prophet to help them, to warn them of dangers and to declare things to come? These questions can be answered in the affirmative. Who is this prophet?...This "prophet" was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are known as Jehovah's Christian Witnesses...Of course, it is easy to say that this group acts as a ‘prophet' of God. It is another thing to prove it." The Watchtower, 4/1/72, p. 197. (See Deut. 18:21)

1897 "Our Lord, the appointed King, is now present, since October 1874," Studies in the Scriptures, Vol. 4, page 621.

1899 "...the ‘battle of the great day of God Almighty' (Revelation 16:14), which will end in A.D. 1914 with the complete overthrow of earth's present rulership, is already commenced." The Time Is at Hand, page 101 (1908 edition).

1916 "The Bible chronology herein presented shows that the six great 1000 year days beginning with Adam are ended, and that the great 7th Day, the 1000 years of Christ's Reign, began in 1873." The Time Is at Hand, page ii, (forward).

1918 "Therefore we may confidently expect that 1925 will mark the return of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the faithful prophets of old, particularly those named by the Apostle in Hebrews 11, to the condition of human perfection." Millions Now Living Will Never Die, page 89.

1922 "The date 1925 is even more distinctly indicated by the Scriptures than 1914." The Watchtower 9/1/22, page 262.

1923 "Our thought is, that 1925 is definitely settled by the Scriptures. As to Noah, the Christian now has much more upon which to base his faith than Noah had upon which to base his faith in a coming deluge." The Watchtower, page 106 4/1/23.

1925 "The year 1925 is here. With great expectation Christians have looked forward to this year. Many have confidently expected that all members of the body of Christ will be changed to heavenly glory during this year. This may be accomplished. It may not be. In his own due time God will accomplish his purposes concerning his people. Christians should not be so deeply concerned about what may transpire this year." The Watchtower, 1/1/25, page. 3.

1925 "It is to be expected that Satan will try to inject into the minds of the consecrated, the thought that 1925 should see an end to the work." The Watchtower, Sept, 1925 page 262.

1926 "Some anticipated that the work would end in 1925, but the Lord did not state so. The difficulty was that the friends inflated their imaginations beyond reason; and that when their imaginations burst asunder, they were inclined to throw away everything." The Watchtower, page 232.

1931 "There was a measure of disappointment on the part of Jehovah's faithful ones on earth concerning the years 1917, 1918, and 1925, which disappointment lasted for a time...and they also learned to quit fixing dates." Vindication, page 338.

1941 "Receiving the gift, the marching children clasped it to them, not a toy or plaything for idle pleasure, but the Lord's provided instrument for most effective work in the remaining months before Armageddon." The Watchtower, 9/15/41, page 288.

1968 "True, there have been those in times past who predicted an ‘end to the world', even announcing a specific date. Yet nothing happened. The ‘end' did not come. They were guilty of false prophesying. Why? What was missing?.. Missing from such people were God's truths and evidence that he was using and guiding them." Awake, 10/8/68.

1968 "Why are you looking forward to 1975?" The Watchtower, 8/15/68, page 494.

A JW might say that the organization is still learning. If that is so, then how can they trust what they are taught now by the Watchtower? Will what they are being taught now change also?
A true prophet of God won't err in prophesying. Only a false prophet does. The Jehovah's Witness organization, that claims to be a prophet of God, is really a false prophet. Jesus warned us by saying, "For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect -- if that were possible" (Matt. 24:24).

I am not a Jehovah's Witness either, but if I am wrong, I am pretty sure that someone will come on here and correct it. They don't believe in the Trinity, because the word Trinity does not appear in any Bible that was written from the original Greek/Hebrew text. They believe that there is one true God, the Creator and they believe there is a begotten Son, Jesus. They believe that Jesus was probably with GOD all along, first as an angel, (not truly documented) but says that he was with him from the beginning. Then as spiritual man, Jesus, and back to God's right side in heaven. They believe that God, the Creator is giving Jesus the authority to rule over the new earth, after the much talked about Armageddon. The Holy Spirit is not viewed as God or Jesus or as a person since it does not have a personal name and can be assumed to be the life force of the creator. A lot of people claim that Jehovah's Witness shut out Jesus, giving only the Creator recognition, In the first part of Revelation it tells of the religions that pleased God. One religion was almost perfect. The one thing they missed was acknowledging the Father. It still goes, today.

Two things:

We point to these errors in dates as a mark of a false prophet, according to Deut. 18: 20-22. Then, the JWs come back with a regurgitation of the WTS response, claiming that they never said they were a prophet organization. What is a prophet, according to Scripture? One who has a direct revelation from God and proclaims it to others. Has the WT claimed to have been Jehovah's direct channel of communication and His mouth piece? YES!!!!

Secondly, if Jesus returned in 1914, why do they still celebrate the Memorial Supper, when the Apostle Paul says that we are to keep the ceremony UNTIL HE RETURNS? If he is here, there is no longer a need to partake in this communion with him. So why do they continue? (See 1 Corinthians 11: 24-29)

Ans, BTW, the WT is denying those of the "Great Crowd" eternal life and they don't even know it! In John 6: 51-54, Jesus explicitly says that if you don't partake in His body and blood, you do not have life. The WT is toying with your eternal salvation, people! Wake up before it's too late for salvation. The door of the ark will close. Don't be on the outside wishing you were on the inside.

The official original Watchtower teaching regarding 1799 is that it was the year that the "Time of the End" began. (1914 was the official year that the "End" would end). This was gradually replaced with 1914 as the "beginning" instead of the "end" and to this day,the WT has never admitted that 1799 was wrong.

1874 was originally the year that Jesus' 'parousia" began - according to official WT teaching. That also was gradually changed to 1914 and no official retraction of 1874 has ever been published.

1914 was the year when the Gentile nations were supposed to stop ruling the earth; they're still ruling, but the WT claims that the Gentile Times ended anyway in 1914.

It amazes me that a JW will answer this question so positively without checking the facts. If they refuse to go online to see that you are correct, they can go to the library of old JW literature in the kingdrom hall and find the old Watchtower books that say exactly what you said.

It's not what they're teaching NOW.... but it IS what they taught THEN... and some of it --- like 1914 -- they can't let go of.

Their own literature condemns them, but they don't spend the time to check and don't believe us when we tell them.

But that's it. Their own words are full of denial and spin. HUGE MISTAKES become "NEW LIGHT" and "PROGRESSIVE REVELATION." Somehow, they buy the idea that they are looking into the "deep things of God." It could be "deep" all right....

WHO ARE JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES?

The central CORE doctrine of the Watchtower, the reason they came into existence was to proclaim Jesus Christ second coming in 1914.They will now deny that they ever made this claim, that's called BAIT AND SWITCH

The Watchtower is BIG money, being one of the top 40 New York City Corporations making nearly one billion dollars a year. That's just from one of their many corporations. They pay no municipal taxes on their buildings, without even one charity to compensate the community.

Most Church's don't pay taxes either, but most mainstream churches are abundant in humanitarian charities.Think if you have ever seen a Jehovah Witness food pantry or soup kitchen for the needy?

For 50 plus years the masthead of the Watchtower, viewed when you opened up to the inside front cover would read as follows:

"This magazine(Watchtower) builds up confidence in the Creators PROMISE of a peaceful and secure "new world" before the generation "that witnessed" the EVENTS OF 1914 passes away"".
By their own admission the Watchtowers has published this dogma in hundreds of millions of pieces of their own literature.

They deleted this false Adventist millerite derived prophecy in 1995 because it had FAILED.

The Watchtower leadership has "purged" hundreds of thousands of followers over the years for failing to uphold the 1914 (Jesus came to power) loyalty oath to this now defunct dogma.

The Bible clearly warns to turn away from false prophets.

I am not a Jehovah's Witness, but I have family that are.
I have attended their meetings before, and not ONCE has anyone asked me for a dime. They do not pass around a plate where everyone will see if you contribute or not.
As far as their beliefs, I dont agree with a lot of them. That is why I dont join them. But I do believe they are entitled to their beliefs as much as you or me.

I saw people ranting on tv about the end of the world coming in 1995. They seemed rather eccentric and annoying, now that I think back they where probably jehova. It seems sort of like a raffle tho.. pick a date, and hoepfully the end will land on that year.

They aren't too bad tho, once the lady brought herself/her very very cute daughter. (i'm not old so don't let that throw you off). I didn't mind if they rang my doorbell tho. I even talked to them for hours.

What I was told by a old friend, was to ask them to come to your church. Then they'll walk away.
