I already heard one news anchor attempt to link the two together by saying "It's been extremely warm here this summer, could that be a possibility."

Folks, you can stop voting for best answer. Enraged Parrot has won it hands down. His quote "valid scientific opinion" is absolutely hillarious. He's hit the nail right on the head. Global warming is nothing but an opinion. I've just never heard it put quite this way before. Valid scientific opinion.....LOL. Thanks parrot, you've made my week.

Actually I heard that Michael Moore had just finished a pizza buffet, then headed his Hummer to the bridge.... has anyone seen him since yesterday?

K H -- there are bound to be lunatics on both sides of the questions. There are so many who answer without understanding and this includes news anchors and the like.
Every hot day we get in our own locale some people are yelling 'Global Warming'. This happens all the time and it is very frustrating.
Even if we have a heat wave at the same time the bridge collapsed you can not attribute this as an effect of Global Warming.

good day, mad scientist, you found out on your records type that one desires a ninety seven% hazard of being staggering with a view to have a 50% hazard of somewhat being staggering? That might desire to be some style of unusual mad technology college. there is largely little doubt that the Earth as an entire has been warming over the final 30 years, and that anthropogenic CO2, the consequences of burning fossil fuels, is in charge. the upward thrust in temperature is approximately 20 sigma, the upward thrust in CO2 of all varieties is approximately one hundred sigma, and the isotopic information that it somewhat is brought about by utilising burning fossil fuels is approximately 10 sigma. Now, that's authentic that there is uncertainty approximately organic CO2 sequestration outcomes, and prefer the IPCC, i could supply those organic procedures a pair of 10% hazard of saving us, if we don't save ourselves. So those are the percentages: 10% hazard we would be ok if we do no longer something ninety% hazard that the worldwide would be heavily broken if we don't cut back fossil gas use. This hardly feels like a call for inactivity. i think of that's somewhat unlikely that Al Gore will blame the Japan Earthquake on worldwide warming, and could be keen to wager that he does not.

It is probably because of policiticians that the bridge collapsed tho. I work for a company that inspects bridges. They turn in the reports but can't make them close a bridge unless it's ok'd by whoever is in charge (commissioner, mayor, whoever). Usually the people in charge won't fix the bridge because they'd rather spend the money on something very visible that will help them get reelcted, not bridge maintentance. Sometimes bridge maintenace is as simple as painitng the bridge on a regular basis so it won't rust.

I saw Spike Lee and Kayne West in some of the video looking for the Bombs that George Bush and Dick Chaney put under it...luckily Sean Penn came along in a leaky canoe with a shotgun in hand and gave them a ride down river somewhere...probably headed off to see Chavez me thinks!

The media is using global warming to make money for oil companies. CNN said global warming is a good thing because the polar ice caps are melting and now we can drill for oil and natural gas in santa clause's back yard.
Why the hell do you think BP is now "Beyond Petroleum"? These assholes are going to take over the alternative fuel business. Pretty soon they're going to send us a monthly bill for solar and wind energy.
Al Gore doesn't give a **** about the earth. His stupid live earth concerts did more damage to the environment instead of "raising awareness" about global warming. The only awareness that was raised was for the artists who performed at the concerts, who by the way will now make more money so they can make their bigass mansions even bigger and pollute the earth more.

That is so funny. I was watching it on TV and really jokingly saying it was global warming's fault. Glad to see other some people had a similar chuckle.

You have somehow confused news anchors and climate scientists. Speculation from a news anchor hardly qualifies as valid scientific opinion.

One news anchor does not equal a scientist or any other person qualified to speak about global warming. The media can speculate and hypothesize as much as they want, it usually just makes them look ignorant.
