Are you trying to ask why the CPU is considered to be the major component of a computer rather then the monitor?

Simple. The CPU is where 99% of the work is done. It receives and process all the input from the mouse and keyborad, runs the programs, stores the programs and data, and even sents the output or picture to the montor. The only thing the monitor does is display the picture.

If you were to start the CPU doing something, such as sorting a database (which can take hours) and were to turn off the montior, the CPU would still continue to work and complete it task. It does not need to monitor to run, only to display the output. If you were to start the same sort, and leave the monitor on but turn off the CPU, the monitor would no longer function. It can not do anything without the CPU.

Processor efficiency and onboard memory = speed of execution. Monitors are secondary to performance. Also intense graphic programs require good processor to execute quickly.
