It says on a Mormon website that you think water is from the devil or something like that.

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuh... no
D&C 61 some members were warned not to travel on the missouri river because of danger that was there and one member had a vision of "the destroyer" on the water.
But water is not evil
I drink like 5 litersof water a day and go swimming 3-4 times a week, I go surfing in the summer.
I love the water and it is not evil (you know we baptize in the water too.)

"I've heard that Mormons believe that water is of the Devil" How does that prove Mormons believe water is evil? It was in the question, not the answer.
Missionaries have rules that forbid swimming, but also four-wheeling and contact sports. The Church wants to keep them out of trouble and danger. The Church is responsible for these often irresponsible young men's safety and well-being.

We don't believe water is evil. We play in the water all the time.
Edit**
Which Mormon website are you looking at.
The official websites of the church are- they will have the correct information.
www.LDS.org and www.Mormon.org
Anything you read on another site may or may not be correct.
that site looks accurate. But that does not say that we believe that. It looks like a FAQ page. The question there is Do Mormons believe, that?
There may be a theory out there surrounding that belief, But I don't think there is any official doctrine that says that water is evil.

Referance Cheese and Rice question on mormons and their water:
here is my answer to that:
Even tho I am an ex-mormon its easy to explain, and you won't be happy because I can explain it...They say that satan controls the oceans and lakes, he has no control over a bathtub or a babtismal fond. The mormons are only half correct, when I was wiccan, i learned that demons inhabit forrests and mountains (which I used to get spooked out by the mountains in utah) and other such things, NOT JUST WATER, here is a complete list: Fire demons live in the upper air, aerial demons inhabit the atmosphere, terrestrial demons inhabit woods, and forest, Aqueous devils inhabit bodies of WATER and WATERWAYS, subterranean demons inhabit caves and mountains.

That isn't an LDS site. We don't think water is evil at all, heck, we need it to survive! If you're talking about on Missions, missionaries can't swim because Satan can drown them and such things like that.
