In order to control the masses, history proves religion is pretty much necessary. Under a new world order, then, what religion do you think they'll use? Personally, I think it will be Christianity, which has been instrumental in uniting all nations- not to mention Rome . . . but with a few modifications to include all other religions under the heading- Christian. Maybe I'm wrong, but have you noticed how many evangelicals are currently in the most powerful country's whitehouse and the amount of sway they really have over all?
Anyhow, what are your thoughts on this?

I think yes there will be one world religion.
Which one? I have No Idea but it will be the one that controlls the most people.
Religon is man made.
Purpose: Control as many people as possible without being "caught". They do this by using our fear of death againsed us.
EX, Say things like If You Don't Beleive You will go to hell for all eternity.
They scam you out of your money saying it will go to funds for the church but really they spend it on them selves.
(By Them and They I mean the Government)
To the government, MONEY is POWER.
And It The Power and Money they need to controll US.
And What Better way to controll us ?
RELIGION

there will never be a one world religion.
so what if currently the most powerful country is a christian nation. history also shows changes in power. who knows what tomorrow's superpower is?
the largest religion is christianity. but islam is very close behind and it's increasing faster than christianity (meaning one day, it will have more). hinduism is almost at a billion, too.
so you can see, there will never be one religion.
and to tell you the truth, in today's increasingly scientific society, there might be NO religion in a few hundred years. just a society bonded by science. (which is the way it should be). science has already disproved much of many religions' views and claims and soon, all religion will be taken over by science.

I think it will be one of those new-age-y, "there is no evil - only differences of opinion" arrangements. Once you can get people to believe that there is no right and wrong, you can get away with almost anything. People become, for lack of a better term, morally flaccid and unable to stand up to anything because they lack the motivation. If you do something and I complain about it, I get labeled as selfish or intollerant.
Once that is in place, you can pass all kinds of laws for "the public good". As long as you talk about how it will be good for people, no one will fight you on it. Then by the time they get fed up enough to do anything, it's too late.
Just my opinion. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Most probably Islam, as it is a religion of "convert, or die, infidel!" So the world will be full of Muslims and headless people. All other religions are too peaceful to rule like this. Only when the Rapture occurs will Christianity reign. I only pray that it comes before Islam takes over.

Yes- there will be a one world religion --
The religion will be under a power that was once strong-- and it will gain strength again.. United States will pay homage to this power & enforce this unity under this power.. those that do NOT search for themselves will be following the "beast"--
This is according to Daniel & Revelations. This power will portray itself to be that of good- when in actuallity it will be deceiving many.

At one point I thought the catholics would revert to their old ways and try to take over... however my current viewpoint is that some form of ecumenicism will form combining not only 'christian' beliefs but all abrahamic religions and others. At that point I get really worried.

I don't think it is a matter of all being the same religion. As long as everyone believes in something all together good. We just need to accept that it may not be exactly the same belief.

Exactly how has christianity been instrumental in uniting Iran? Iraq? Afghanistan? Russia? Indonesia? China?
You have a very prejudiced worldview.

the world council of churches is already trying to stream line the various world religions into one that is acceptable to the majority of the worlds population. the anti-christ wil take advantage of this, and declare himself god incarnate. while this one world religion will seem to be based in christianity, but in reality it isnt.
