I am thinking of moving to NY, and would like to know the safe neighboring schools, etc, or Connecticut.

The four major suburbs with great schools are: Long Island, Westchester County, Bergen Count, NJ, and Fairfield County, Connecticut. The suburbs are mostly houses with extremely high taxes. On average, $450,000 for a house with $8,000 annual property taxes. In NYC, the four special schools are excellent - Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, Brooklyn Tech, and Townsend Harris.

Long Island has some very good school districts. Rent on the Island however, runs about the same as a mortgage, so if possible, own, don't rent.
