My wife and I are considering a vacation there later this year, but are concerned about being turned away at the last minute due to my record from 7 years ago. Also thinking about making Aliyah in 24 months. Any insight would be appreciated!

For the most part, a criminal record does not invalidate you for entry or aliyah. However, the Supreme Court can turn away otherwise acceptable olim based on their criminal records, which is why for example Israel refused citizenship to Jewish former mobsters. I do believe that if you've completed your sentence and are no longer sought by the government then Israel would not have a problem. I would suggest contacting the Israeli embassy for details regarding the specifics of your case.

It would depend on the nature of the felony - Without greater insight I couldn't give you an educated answer. You can contact the Israeli Embassy in DC if you want to get a definate answer.

Good Luck!!!

I believe their is a law that if someone is charged with a crime that they may not eligible for Aliyah, but if one has completed the terms of his sentence then I do not see what the problem would be.

if your country gives you a passport and if you didnt commit your felony in israel, it's not likely that you wont' be allowed in.
