i put a bid in on ebay know i have changed my mind

Use the Bid Retraction form available on the link below. Make sure you are cancelling within the allowed restrictions (see Retraction Info link below) or ebay won't let you cancel.
Just be more careful about placing a bid next time.

If you don't win the auction, nothing will happen and nobody will be any wiser. However, if you do win the auction, you are legally bound by contract to fulfil the transaction. If you suddenly change your mind, the seller has every right to take you to a County Court for a "Breach of Contract". On top of that, you will get a bad report against you. In future, if you want to buy something and you have a bad report, the seller is likely to ignore your bid as you will not be trusted. In addition, should you wish to sell, buyers will not trust you, thus keeping the bids low. It will take time to build a reputation back up. For your sake, I hope you lost that auction.

Send an email to the seller to ask that you had changed your mind. Usually, they will give you a negative feedback. Just hope that someone else outbid you. You might have to start bidding under different name

copy the item number from the auction.
chose the excuse: cannot contact seller, or buyer changed description.

you'll get a negative feedback vote probably and future sellers may reject your bids because they figure you'll stiff them too

either you'll get a negative feedback or they'll come with pitch forks and torches. the latter happened to my cousin :-(
