He was around 33 years old. Life expectancy was around 40 or 50 years old.

Then as now, life expectancy was tied to economics. Rich people lived longer than poor people.

Jesus is traditionally thought to be about 33 years old when He was crucified.

As an itinerant rabbi, you gotta figure He was economically disadvantaged for those 3 years. As the supposed son of a carpenter, He was probably comfortable while growing up and continued so until He took up His active ministry. Being a carpenter then was an asset. Specialist at a difficult and necessary craft, Jesus would have made a good living by the standards of the time.

Given those circumstances plus the known standards of living in His timeframe, one could fairly accurately determine that without the interruption of His death, Jesus would probably have lived at least 55 years, perhaps even late into His 60's if He retired from itinerant preaching and settled down to carpentry before the completion of His 40's.

Jesus was just over 33 when he died. The life expectency of that day was probably not much higher then that. But the "figure" is affected by the fact that nearly 1/3 of all infants died during their first year of life. With 1/3 of all people dying at age "0", it is going to bring the average way down.

The second most common case of death for males was war. That usually took them between the ages of 15 and 35. Again lowering the average. The second most common cause of death in women was childbirth. Again, that was often at an early age.

If you survived childhood and childbirth/war, then you had about the same chances as today to live into your 70s.

Average male life expectancy in that era was around, but not much more than 50; you were a old man in your mid 40s. Christ was 33 when He gave His life for us.

From what i have read and been told by most, especially within the Christian church, Jesus was 32 years of age when he died. His time on Earth was such that it was planned by God and long enough to display an effective ministry. It is said that he died 20 years after he made his first preaching to the Jewish priests in the temple, he was twelve when this happened. I believe he was baptised by John during his late twenties.

I think I remember my dad saying he was around 30 when he gave his life on the cross. But you have to remember that Jesus is not dead, he lives today, in Heaven and is coming back. You also have to remember he did not die of natural causes, he was crucified (and rose three days later)
The average life expectancy of the time was probably around 50.

He died at around 30-35 years old. I think the average 35 year old could have lived to 80 years old.

life expectancy may have been short, but that is because so many babies died, if someone got to adulthood, they probably lived to their 50's.
