I suffer from a lack of confidence, and low self-esteem. There is nothing that I'm good at except for one thing, my life's work with animals. I am close to being a shut-in by choice.
When I found the love and respect of pet rats 11 years ago my life changed, once again. I found my niche, my calling, my obsession............to teach others the ways of proper rat knowledge and care, dispel the ridiculous rat myths, and promote rats as the best rodent pet.
I have had almost every kind of pet from tadpoles to horses. Right now I have a dog, 4 cats, a Siamese Fighting Fish, a Tiger Salamander, and of course the rats. I have been in dog clubs since I was 14 and a dog obedience instructor for just as long. I've shown cats for 6 years.........I'm almost 50.
But it's the rats who have taught me so many lessons over the years that I can't even begin to make the list. The ones that stand out the most:
Stand up for what you believe in, no matter how others feel about your choices.
If you find your purpose in life go for it with all of your heart and soul.
You don't need to get paid for what you enjoy doing the most, just share it.
VIVA RODENTIA!!! for sure

Yep!
My rat is quite possibly the most.. uhh.. "individual" pet I've ever owned, followed reasonably closely by a couple of my less normal hamsters. But really, there's no competition. He's more human, for sure.

I currently have 14 rats, 10 girls and 4 boys. They are the sweetest, most entertaining companions I've ever had! I've learned so much from them, and continue upgrading my toys and cages to better suit their needs. I guess I spoil them like they are my own children. I'm young, so I suppose they are! lol.

yes, I love mine. I'm trying to show other people how lovable they are. As people become poorer, and space is limited, people who want a pet are discovering what sweeties they really are. I hope someday they will be as common as dogs.

Yes, they are awesome companions & such individual characters! Smart, too. We love our girls & our boys, they're always good for a laugh or a cuddle.
