First, I think this does apply but it really only applies to the "successful" nations. If you look into the developing nations, Africa, Asia, even south America, they are exploding with new christian converts who take their Christianity very seriously. For the rest of us, when you have it easy, you get lazy, spoiled, and rotten. Think about it, the only time we as a nation pray, is when we have a disaster, or a major problem. If you don't need anything from God, if you can get what you need on your own, why have a god? The first church, was tormented, persecuted, ran underground so they clinged to God, for everything. Their faith was their life. We have lost that. We let the world tell us we are believing in fairly tales, so we don't speak up in public to keep the peace. We watch laws passed that say what we know the bible speaks against, but we remain quite. Shoot, many don't even believe the bible is the word of God anymore. If you don't believe it, you cant, and you want live it. But with this said, the true Christians will step up, one more time, I think it will start with the youth, who are sick of what we have become, who want to get back to the roots. Pray, Pray Pray.

Greetings,
Those so-called Christians that you refer to are not what they portray themselves as. The old saying if it looks like a duck walks like a duck ans quacks like a duck then it must be a duck does not hold up for all of those proclaiming to be Christians. In Matthew 7 at the end of Jesus' sermon on the mount. There are some verses concerning future conversations with Him and He declares that though they proclaim to have done practically everything under the sun for Him in His name;He declares that He knew them not.
Remember that He stated that there would come many after Him that would come in His name but to beware of these false teachers for they are ravenous wolves dressed in sheeps clothing. He was not saying this only of leaders of assemblies but the assemblies themsselves also.
So this being said hopefully there dawns some light on your question. They will be known by their fruits. If you are not filled with the Holy Spirit then you will not produce the friuts found in Galatians. Obviously these persons that you are talking about do not have those attributes and we as true followers should be able to discern the true from the false. Of course the rest of the population is only going to follow the guidlines that are being fed to them by their father the Devil,Satan and overall we will be seen in their view to gain more supporters for the Devils cause and pry them from Gods way. Unfortunately the Devil doesn't understand that when God says that you are in His hand and nothing can take you from it ,that is exactly what He means For who is greater than GOD??????? the creation can not become greater than the creator.

I'm glad the peaceful christians are starting to speak up would ease some of this crazyness the religious and evangelists have created. The same trouble making christians are the only ones who love quoting the scripture that talks about hate they would be getting (one more reason not to take the freaking bible so seriously or use it as proof), but lets face it once again it's something on their part they are just setting the stage for it all.

I think there is a big difference between Christians in America and in the rest of the world. American Christians are the most fake. Go anywhere else in the world, and you will find the most genuine Christians you will ever meet. Many of these people are willing to suffer for their faith and even die for it since they are persecuted in many countries. I think the reason American Christians are so different is because American culture is "me-centered" and their faith doesn't require them to stand out in any way. Anyone can say they're a Christian. Not to mention that many churches "water down" the gospel to get more people to attend.

I think this is because there are many "Christians" out there who say they believe in Jesus, but do not live accordingly. I know some people, who at first sight you won't think they are saved but actually are...
I am a Christian, and I am sad that the image of Christianity is getting such a bad reputation.

Do you study the bible? I'm a bible believing Christian. The 7 letters to the churches in Revelation not only represent the churches of that day and the churches of today but The Church throughout History. We are in the endtimes, the last form of the Church, the church of Laodicea, lukewarm suburband protestant/catholic christianity. We are so close to the rapture. Comfort eachother in this hope. Those who have this hope purify themselves. Let me know if we're on the same page.
On the other hand, remember that if we are following Jesus, the world will hate us, not love us. As Jesus said, "If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own. But you are not of the world because I have called you out of the world and therefore the world hates you."
The world will hate you either way, whether you're a hypocrite or a true follower, student of the bible. Which are you?

You are absolutely right. Christians, if you are really Christian stop judging everyone around you. "Do not judge lest you be judged!" No one can tell another or a group of others, "You are going to hell!" That is God's job. It is very unattractive in Christians. Whatever happened to "They'll know we are Christians by our love for one another." That statement does not just refer to our fellow Christians but to all people, gays, killers, rapists, presidents, teachers, doctors, lawyers, mothers, fathers, neighbors and yes, even Muslims. "Love your enemies; do good to those that hate you." We, Christians bear very little resemblance to what Christians are supposed to look like to the world.

Matthew 10:22 Jesus said,
"And you shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endures to the end shall be saved."
John 3:20 Jesus said,
"For every one that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, less his deeds should be reproved (exposed).
For those who hate the Lord my reputation will always be bad. They will like nothing about me.
To answer your question, a Christian does not worry about his reputation before men, but he cares what God thinks about him. The devil has crept into the churches and some who call themselves Christian are not. God said, "the judgment of God will begin in the house of God." This means the house of God is full of the demonic.

Some Christians are so fanatic and they think they have the obligation of transmiting their beliefes to everyone (though maybe people of other religions just wanna keep their religions!) Those are the people giving us such a bad image. And quotes from the Bible are not helping a lot either

Good luck, seriously.
Things that produce a "bad reputation": Blind faith, Televangelists, Hypocrites, etc....
Try encouraging people to open their mind, to learn think for themselves, to question authority, to learn from history, to speak out against the wrongs done by false teachers instead of ignoring them, to personally research things before jumping on the bandwagon, to learn learn why they believe what them believe beyond just "I was told" or "it's in the bible", and to live what they believe 24/7, not just 2/1.
