Well, one thing that dries out skin is astringent. It can remove any excess oil from your face if that's what you have a problem with. However, an interesting thought to keep in mind is that you may actually be drying out your skin already. I know that may sound odd, but bear with me. Basically, when you us harsh soaps and chemicals on your skin to remove any oil your pores go "oh no! We are drying up!" and secrete more oil, making it appear that your skin is too oily. My suggestion would be to use a gentle soap (foaming soaps are very gentle) and moisturize your face afterwards. Johnsons's Shea and Cocoa Butter baby lotion is a good choice because, even though it isn't a face lotion, it doesn't leave you feeling greasy and is just enough to leave your face soft.

heat dries up the skin, not just the sun. i'm sure a microwave would work, if you take out the component and focus a good blast at the source of the poison ivy that could probably work. uhm, also, i would try a facial scrub on the ivy, even if it isnt on your face. and a good ol' ivory soap will dry it up good.

Alcohol really dries out the skin. If you ever use toner or astringent with a very high alcohol content, you can see that it dries out the skin, same goes with benzoil peroxide (used in acne medicine) and also salacid acid.
