If you eat a well balanced diet, no supplementation is necessary. The supplements are not regulated by the FDA and thus their health consequences are unknown. Basically, they can say whatever they want on the label, and no agency is monitoring or enforcing the claims. If you do exercise at high intensity for greater than an hour such as swimming running, bicycling, etc then I would recommend drinking gatoraide or a similar product to replace the lost electrolytes. However, these products are not necessary for moderate levels of exercise or work out sessions lasting less than 1 hour.

You need basic supplements to see reasonable gains, i take protein (nitro tech) or iso pure for lower calories and a multi vitamin. also cycle off and on creatine mono hydrate for plateau periods. Omega 3 and redline for energy at the gym. At the least take protein and vitamin is a must to be fit, healthy and see gains you just can't eat that much through out the day and keep a good track of what your taking in. Don't believe anyone who says you can do it with out supplements. because you can't. All top athletes use supplements even some of the more dedicated will go 100% supplements for peak performance
