I think the artificial sweetners are horrible for you. They give me a migraine anytime I consume them... water is best!

no no no! please dont drink it. diet cola is horrible for you. anything that says diet or fat free is bad. they tell you that theres no sugar and stuff but really they just replace it with harmful substances. it may not effect you now but in the long run it will. im serious. check out the ingredients of a product that says fat free/diet. most likely you wont be able to pronounce half of them. if you want cola that bad then stick with regular. and if your planning on going on a diet eat healthy foods. the healthiest you'll find are organics and such.
the funniest thing i see these days are people that eat at mcdonalds and order a diet coke. does anyone else see how that doesnt make sense?

Best thing is to drink water and plenty of it. Diet drinks have a lot of carbon dioxide which gives the sensation of filling you up, but in fact can cause bloating and the sweetners used are at times not recommended. Freshly squeezed lemons in a litre of water is refreshing and the vitamin C is excellent for the immune system and detoxing the body generally.

Well, I have a minimum of two 20 oz. bottles of Diet Mountain Dew a day (which, contrary to the beliefs of at least one respondent on here, DOES have caffeine) and as far as I can tell, I've sufered no ill effects as a result - no weight gain, no rotted teeth, etc. But then again, I don't actually diet, I never have. I just eat what I crave at the time.

Diet cola is perfectly fine to drink anytime and it isn't as bad for your teeth as regular soda. Diet cola is made with sugar substitute. In any event, it's okay to drink on a diet.

To be honest, you should go ahead and have a real coke you still in taken complex sugars in your body. If you are trying to lose weight cut out soda all in all for about to months, Still continue to work out drink a lot of water and fruit juice and cut fast food and sugar in take down and I promise you will lose weight I know for a fact. I stop drinking soda's and eating candy for about to months( I worked out as well) I went from 145 to 125 pounds so get some discipline you can do this.

you shouldnt really drink any soda while on a diet.
i gave up soda alone and just stopped drinking it and i lost more then 5 lbs. and i didnt drink alot of it before i gave it up.
but diet soda IS worse then regular soda, you would be better off drinking regular soda while on a diet.
if you still want to drink the soda of your choice drink it in moderations.
you do not have to drink a whole can just because you have it, learn how to resist your temptation.
drink water instead.
at first you are like i would rather have soda but after awhile you really forget about all the soda. and your teeth WILL thank you =]
also drinking alot of cold ice water helps burn calories because your body has to adjust the temp. of it! (that i learned in health class)
also eat lots of apples because your body has to work extra hard to digest them so you burn calories there toO!
good luck!

Diet cola is 99.9% water, the rest are chemicals.
Lets just say that if it helps you stay on the diet then by all means drink it. The water actually helps and while there are studies that claim diet soda is bad for you I don't think there's too much to worry about.
I guarantee that it will not impede your diet.

Its better to drink water or tea...green tea. But if you NEED one its best to have a diet soda because of the calories. soda doesn't really ROT your teeth...just stains them, but you can whiten. Anyway, becareful of the diet sodas because there is new information ALL the time on the effects of these artifical sweetners.
Oh and don't drink a whole one....

I think you have been listening too much to the snobs who believe that only bottled water is worthy of drinking, particularly on a diet.
Diet soda has no calories as contrasted to the more than 100 calories that a glass of regular soda or fruit juice has. If you take an extra 100 calories for a full year you will gain 10 pounds for that year. As long as diet is satisfying why waste your calories on anything else?
Diet soda is my drink of reference and has helped me keep my weight in the normal BMI range.
