Clean title means there are no liens on the title. Liens can be placed on a title when there is an outstanding loan on the car or if a court action has caused a persons property to be held for payment of a debt. Automotive titles only contain information on the vehicle such as year, make, model, color, and identification numbers (VIN) There is no information as to accidents. Places like CarFax have a deal with repair shops that report work done on vehicles. Salvage titles are for cars taken to the junkyard.

Salvage or rebuilt title:
1-vehicle has been is a collision or other occurrence to the extent that the cost to repair exceeds 25% of fair market value.
2-has been a flood vehicle.
3-has been reconstructed.

Clean Title.
Has not been in an accident or damages did not cost more than 25% of fair market value.
REMEMBER: you can still get a clean title, even if the car has been in an accident.

And yes, it does affect the value on the vehicle.

Im refence to the above comment. CLEAR title is when there is no liens on the vehicle.
