The chicken pox vaccine is considered to "last a lifetime" and protects against subsequent exposures to slight to moderate virulent outbreaks and exposures.

Most children do not get the vaccination as a rule but this is apparently always offered at the same time as the MMR (measles,mumps and rubella ) vaccinations.

There had been cases where children previously vaccinated came down anyway with chicken pox but the severity of the infection was less. |Researchers explained that this is caused by improper storage and low potency of the original primary vaccine.
