Many gods?
1 Corinthians 8: 5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
Can we become gods?
Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Galatians 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
I think this pretty much sums it all up. And it is in the Bible, so you can't argue with it.

I was just thinking one day about the trinity and how confused I was, when this idea popped into my head. Call it revelation if you want, but it made a lot sense to me, and to my mom when I explained it to her....
Here's what I figured out. In the Bible when Christ kept saying he and the Father were one that doesn't mean they were one single being, like most Christians believe. If you think about it, in those days EVERYONE except for the Jews believed in many many gods. There was Zeus, and Mars, and Pan, and Freya, and Ra, and gosh I could go on and on. But they were not together. Pan would fight against Apollo. Iris was worshipped in one city and not another. Heck even Jupiter and his wife had quarrels! The people believed in many gods, but each god was their own seperate thing/sect. They weren't united.
Jesus Christ and his Father are united! Therefore they make one supreme God. They don't fight against each other. They work with each other. You have to read the Bible in the perspective of the Jews and the people of that time, since the Bible wasn't exactly written for US. But anyways....back to your question.
Jesus is not his own seperate god, he is a seperate BEING. But not a seperate god. The Holy Ghost is also in the Godhead. It's not like he has his own religion and if you worship the Holy Ghost you don't worship the other two. No. If you worship one, you also worship the others. They are seperate BEINGS but not seperate gods. Their purpose is the same. I hope this made sense.
There is ONE God. And I agree with Love Yahoo!! We WILL become LIKE God. We aren't there yet. I would tell you how now, but that's a whole other subject.....and this post is already long....
God Bless!

God is our loving Heavenly Father (Matthew 6:9) with a glorified body with the image in which we were all created. Jesus Christ is God's only begotten Son with a glorified body. The Holy Spirit has a body of divine spirit. These three distinct beings, backed by a great deal of scriptural evidence, combine to establish one single Godhead. But this is not Henotheism, because as D & C 20:19 states:
"And gave unto them commandments that they should love and serve him, THE ONLY LIVING AND TRUE GOD, and that he should be the only being whom they should worship. "
That sums it up pretty well.
Edit - Love Yahoo & Kia Sister summed it up pretty well. We do not believe that we will become of a higher supremacy than God himself. But scriptural evidence shows that if we keep the commandments and obey Christ's teachings that we are promised to receive the blessings of our Heavenly Father and that we can add to his glory, not take away from it. I won't go into much detail about it because that is a whole 'nother subject. I haven't seen a church doctrine on us receiving our own planet when we die.

We do believe that we can become Gods. But we Worship God, The Father, and his Son Jesus Christ. That is it. We don't worship any other Gods. We will get our own planet, I don't believe there is any official teaching on that.

I was following this doctrine to some kind of conclusion once, but there isn't any. If 'Families Are Forever", does god still have his brothers and sisters, mother, father, sons, daughters hanging around? If they've 'progressed' to their own 'godhood', then it's logical to assume families AREN'T forever, especially if they get promoted and transfered. If they're still 'together', exactly where are these people, and how do they fit into things?
I really don't think anyone has ever thought this particular doctrine out to any extent. 'Eternal marriage' has never been a big sell for me either. I'd rather start dating again.

You may, but I cannot deny the Bible.
Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
John 10:34-35

Let me state this.
God the Father -- we worship Him and pray to Him
Jesus Christ -- God the Son -- We pray to the father through Him
Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit) -- third member of the Godhead -- Testifier of the atonement of Jesus Christ and of Truth
3 Gods in the Godhead -- One in purpose (one God)
We have knowledge about no other Gods and we only worship God the Father Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Worship of one God -- Monotheistic
OK

We will NOT become Gods, we would become LIKE God... when I say like, is that by then we will be saved already (if we're worth of it) and would live a worthy life without harming or bad things in us... and we will be ruled by God, so he is the one and only God for eternities. Jesus is not God, he's his son that was sent to earth for us and he died for our sins. We only believe in one God and is him whom we worship; we all have the same God.

Seeing their founder was a kid barely out of diapers yet, I'm not surprised at their adolescent thinking. I think they should open their eyes and get with the times.
