ok here goes
now I love you Christian guys but..
someone is asking for prayers for world peace on here ( a beautiful request ) and is met with " some " people saying no because it is Gods will
http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhfGbxA9wecagX9mHm0VLLRFLxV.?qid=20070802085235AAifoMM
and I am seen this many times on these boards before ...
guys with respect .... if there are to be no end times ... if our energy , our thoughts are what makes this world as it is ...
then perhaps your waiting for the end times and wishing for the second coming is what is holding the world back from having true peace ?
I may not have worded this very well .. but hopefully you understand what I mean
this all just makes me sad
maybe God is wishing for peace as well

with all due respect, Christians, JESUS asked us to "pray without ceasing". He asked us to pray ALWAYS and for everything IN PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION make our wishes known to HIM>

THIS INCLUDES WORLD PEACE.... for that which is "loosed" on earth will be "loosed" in heaven. this means "thy kingdome come, they will be done!
WAKE UP PEOPLE. Study your bible for pity's sake!

Thank you Pangel, for calling us out!

by the way, were you zapped?

I agree... the problem with obsessing with an end to the world is that it is a wish to be relieved of all long-term responsibility. I understand this because of the enormity of life and all its challenges, but I do not think this is a productive wish.

If they insist on staying in this mindset, it may be better to think in terms of cleaning up the house as best they can for when company arrives. It's only respectful.

You may be right.

The Christians who will not pray for world peace or any other positive endeavor--like healing or release from misery or the salvation of one soul or all souls are violating biblical instructions. We are told to pray for what we need and want. We are also told to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and visit the sick and the prisoners. Perhaps their condition is God's will, perhaps it is the will of a sinful entity--the devil or a lying, selfish human. If it is God's will, their condition may be so for us, that we may exercise compassion. If we don't, we've failed to do God's will.

Certainly would be nice but, that would require people to all come together and except everyone for who they are. And I know that that isn't possible. Because inside people's hearts, they hold grudges and hate. Prayers for peace within ourselves would be the first place to start. It is where I was forced to with because there was a lot of things I could not except alone!

Edit: With the thumbs down..just proves my point. I don't care about the thumbs down but, it is away of communicating back to people that leave their opinion to your question! Peace, and love starts within you. You can't possibly ask someone to give something they don't have, or don't give freely to people. You want 'world peace', change who you are inside and out! Touch people's lives with love and make them feel the change! Walk the walk, talk the talk!

You'd think the universal Law of Attraction, guided by their God's will, is proof enough of it's existance, but.......what Christian wants to take the responsibility and turn it around?
Funny, how most of us here understand that.

I think I understand what you are saying. It is up to us as a society to work towards world peace and the betterment of society. I believe it is ineffective to wait around for an omnipotent being to change our lives for us - we have to be proactive and make changes for the better ourselves and work together toward a common goal. I can't believe those who choose to simply sit idly by.

I marvel at those responses too--they'll pray for a new car but not world peace--try asking for a prayer to end world hunger and see the way they respond

The God that I have discovered in Jesus wants us to oppose evil, not merely say it is His will (THAT is unconscious blasphemy)
Jesus asked us to pray' "Deliver us from evil" which would not make sense if evil was part of God's will
Just praying is not enough, though. My faith drives me to write to MP's, march against war, poverty, etc. And commits me to militant pacifism.

Thanks for your concern.

"maybe God is wishing for peace"... why would he?
According to the Christian ethos if he wanted peace he would make it so, not such a loving God after all!
I'll stick to atheism and science, which tends to make sense!

Nicely put. My favorite way of saying that is that holding fast to a belief in the rapture allows people to abandon their call to be stewards of the earth and of each other. This is not usually well recieved.
