I already found a lady who told me to use pine tree saplings as giveways. Such a great idea!

Instead of floral centerpieces, you can use big bowls of glass ornaments in your wedding colors. They're pretty, sparkly and they double as great favors (something people will actually get to use!)

All the Christmas/winter crafty-ness can be converted into wedding stuff too. You can give your flower girl(s) or the kids at the reception supplies to make ornaments or paper snowflakes at a table in the corner. They'll have fun and keep busy at the same time.

My biggest advice would be to use Christmas decorations instead of "Wedding" decorations as much as you can. Christmas decorations are MUCH cheaper, and these days you can get garland, ornaments and decor in just about any color scheme, too!

I'm so jealous! I keep thinking of Winter Wedding ideas, and I'm getting married in MAY!

What color dress are you wearing? For makeup I suggest very icey colors, perhaps light shimmery whites and blues. I would get a snow machine, just to give it that winter wonderland feel. Perhaps hang snowflakes in the boquets or use that fake snow spray to add a little to the leaves of the bouquets. I suggest that if you are wearing white and if you have a lot of white around for decoration, make sure you add something to your dress to make you stand out, perhaps look deeply at the colors for your accesories or your wedding bouquet, make sure the bride stands out!

I am a makeup artist and if you are looking for some ideas for makeup, I would love to be of assistance with the brainstorming process, I love weddings!

Also, crystal would be very icy and winterlike if you used that for candle holders, dinner bowls, etc.

Go all white with some really really red roses! It would give sort of an elegence about it. Maybe a few ice sculptures of maybe your favorite places together. And see if the venue has a lot of windows that can overlook a lake. You can put up Christmas lights up outside to promote a romance about the winter. And chocolate fountains.

hey that is a good idea! I would say avoid red and white, its soooo cliche for that time of year....perhaps black, or navy blue and white with silver accents. I would think have lots of sparkles on things....really give it that moon-lit snow feel! I would do all white flowers, but add christmasy/piney greenery in the arrangements. I would defiently go more "WINTER" than christmas....I saw a cake one time that had maribou trim around the bottoms of the layers that looked like fur instead of frosting for the edging, it was sooo cute and very winter-y!

This is kinda the feel I'm talking about, this is really pretty to me!

I think red is waaay overdone for winter weddings
How about a black and white affair with Ice blue accent colors. . You can have a horse drawn sleigh bring you to the ceremony/reception.Don't overdo the snowflake theme either, it'll look tacky, like a prom. If you could, rent a fireplace ( fake one or if the venue has real one-- even better) and set it near your cake/gift table. Be creative. It'll come to you.

as for favors, hot chocolate and peppermints are always great for winter weddings.

there are a ton of snow-related decorations you can get, from snowflake shaped confetti for when you leave the church, to "frost" for the windows in the reception hall.

my sister in law got married on dec 23, and all the gifts people broght to the reception went under a pine tree that had ornaments in her colors (blue and silver), which was really cute.

Why have a winter theme in winter? You should go for something better. Try booking a large hall and ordering a ton of sand. A bit of timber to make a huge sand pit and some heat lights add a couple of paddling pools and have a summer "beach" wedding. You can easily put in deck chairs and parasols with patio tables. Have some surfing music and for background noise, use some sounds of the sea (waves, sea gulls etc.) and cool beers.

You can use dimmed lights with white christmas lights on tree branches. In your reception hall you can also use dimmed lights with a hint of blue for a winter effect with the candles on each table along wiht your center pieces. You may want a crystal effect so drape crystals from your center pieces as well they will sparkle.

I love the idea of using ice blue & white with snow & snowflakes and crystals - sleds & bare white branches. Elegant - think of the Ice Queen in Chronicles of Narnia

Don't do Red & green - it's so Mrs Santa
