I've been a Mac guy for the last 10 years. What is the differences in Windows? With Macs, you pretty much just stay current. Windows seems different. Why is there not one 'current' version? What's the best Windows (and most common) for a business to run? Vs. What's the best for home?

XP has a sensible number of versions, Home and Professional. Professional features things like IIS and Telnet Server, and makes sense for business. Home is for home and is quite obvious.

I cannot tell you why Vista comes in like 5,000 versions (OK, so only 5). I got the Vista Home edition, and that's good enough for me. There's also Pro, which is much like XP Pro, and then there's Ultimate, which from what I can tell only features the 3D Aero desktop (which is cool, but such a memory hog I recommend avoiding it).

Au Contraire, Mac has versions too. Before Mac OS X there was Mac OS 9. Before Mac OS there was Nextstep. Then there are a whole bunch of Mac OS X versions too like cheetah, tiger and leopard. Windows has 3.1, 95, 98, NT, ME, 2000, XP and Vista.
