Not sure. I've heard of wedding gifts from bride to groom and vise versa, but not of labor gifts. Isn't it gift enough that the child is out? He's also probably helped you a lot during the pregnancy (which he should have), but I think there's a lot more to think about than jewerly. Like how much more you're gonna have to spend on baby things.

ummm... i have NEVER heard this before. I know guys would MAYBE bring there wife some flowers and a card. and thats a MAYBE... I would rather have my husband by my side and being there rather than some jewlery or flowers. A Husband/Fathers love would be the best gift given at birth. So if he doesnt get you anything when you deliver, just be happy he is there and enjoying watching is new child being brought into this world...

Hi there! you know what?... tell your hubby you love him lots and after all you did carry your little one for nine months. Men can't have babies because they just can't handle it! You deserve a little something. In my family traditions it is customary for the father to give the mother a nice ring or new necklace but he could get you some nice lingerie or let you go for a massage after the birth of the baby... and oh yes, if you go for that massage he looks after the baby

I have never heard of this custom. I know it is a nice gesture and my husband wants to get me a necklace with the birthstones of the family in it made. There was no set time on when he was getting it or if he was going to follow through with it
With our first though I never got anything. We just focused out time and money on the new baby.
I wouldn't hold it against him if he doesn't get it or make him get it, but you can let him know it would be appreciated.

I have never heard of that before. If this were the case, then what is Mother's Day and Father's Day for?

i got nothing but flowers! i had never heard of this until i went into a jeweler's shop while pregnant with my second baby. apparently it's pretty common. ... just not for my husband. :P i'm not sure when he's supposed to give it to you. i would say after delivery.

I've never heard of that. Jewelry would be my last focus when I have my new baby though, I mean, what's a piece of jewelry compared to my child...to each their own I guess! I'm not a big jewelry fan anyway.

I suppose some people do it (if they can afford it!), but I don't think it's exactly a custom. You are both already getting the best gift! I wasn't thinking about jewelry when my children were born.

Gifts should be from the heart of the giver or they don't mean anything.
And if this was true, then I'm due two nice pieces of jewelry from my ex!

No, but it should be,
Delivery of a baby is hard enough without getting jewelry at the end.
