I would love to know why women keep asking questions on Yahoo answers that shouldnt be asked in the first place. Questions that very obviously need to be directed to their doctor or their child's pediatrician. I understand alot of you out there are young mothers but for God's sakes grow a brain and ask a real doctor when it's an important medical question.

I've been reading some of your responses and I need to clarify my question. I mean actual emergency type questions. I dont mean suggestion type questions, or Am I pregnant or why does my baby cry . Im talking real , sensitive , doctor needs to be told right away type questions. Thanks again to every who's answered so far!

To those of you who think Im offended. lol Im not. I'm annoyed. It's one thing to ask is it my muscus plug, or is it ok to have a little cramping in the beginning of my pregnancy . A doctor's opinion means more to me than some strangers on Yahoo answers when it comes to my healthy, my childrens health or the health of my unborn baby.

well first of all, if you have a doctor who treats you like a moron because you are concerned about your child and their welfare, i'd say you should get a new doctor.
second of all, why does everybody need to call their stinkin doctor when their kid gets the frickin hiccups? i mean can you blame doctors? i'm sure they do get a lot of stupid questions asked by underconfident parents who don't even know what they're doing. Which i would imagine accounts for a lot of the questions on here.
Third of all....I agree completely!!! OMG!!! yesterday i answered a question by somebody who was apparently raking leaves in their tree and fell out of the tree and thought they broke their arm and oh my goodness what should they do??? I MEAN SERIOUSLY!!!!
And if i see one more "could i be pregnant" question...i think i'll scream. you could be pregnant. if you had unprotected (or even protected) sex, then yes. it is a sure possibility that you might be pregnant. good grief!!!

What makes you think that a single doctor's OPINION is any better than asking a group of moms what their experience is both with their kids and their doctors?
What is wrong with gathering as much information as possible?
What is wrong with a mom who doesn't have any support in real life and is not sure whether she needs to see a doctor or not waiting the 15 whole minutes it takes to get an answer on here? That's about the same amount of time it would take to call a family member and ask or even a nurses line.

Apparently you've never gone to a doctor and had them either lecture you or act like you're a moron for wasting their time over something that turns out to be pretty minor. (By the way...ever hear of the Military or an HMO...You can't change doctors no matter how rude they are or how much they suck...don't judge unless you've been there.)
If you lead a busy life as most new moms do, then it's not exactly easy to drop everything to run yourself or your baby to the doctor. (That is if you have enough health insurance to pay for it in the first place.) There is nothing wrong with going to an open forum like this and asking "Has this happened to you?" or "Is this normal?" That's what it's here for.
What I wonder is why you're even reading these questions since they offend you so much. Or is this just an excuse for you to belittle people because it makes you feel more important?

Because (like me) a lot of people call the doctor for everything. Then the doctors start acting like you are coming in for stupid reasons and you are overly paranoid. So the moms start thinking that what may look serious might not be a big deal at all and could actually be very common. So they ask other people first before they call the doctor.

Hi adrianne,
thank you for the wicked awesome advice.
I tried it.
...."you have reached **** if you know the party you are trying to reach, press 1. The office is closed between 11 and 1 for employee lunch breaks. Please leave a message and a staff member will contact you. If you have called after regular office hours, and this is an emergency, please dial 9-1-1..."
Remembering back to when I was a new father, it was more of a reassurance to check with a friend or fellow parent. They give you an honest answer, and from experience.
I agree, if it's an obvious emergency situation, this is not the place. But it is a free forum. People are going to take advantage of it.
My advice to you is to "skip over" questions you don't like. Don't give yourself a fever over someone else's curiosity.
peace ~

i agree....
questions like: (example) i'm 4 months pregnant and having heavy bleeding could i be having a miscarriage?
OK...first of all i would not sit down at the damn computer and wait for responses from untrained medical personnel. i would GET IN THE DAMN CAR AND GET TO THE HOSPITAL OR CALL 911.....
i have been pregnant w/out medical insurance and i DIDN'T hesitate to go to the doctor if i was having serious problems (which i did)
common sense
**Add**
why do you give thumbs down? have you people seen the questions on here.....come on....
and i have stopped responding to those questions......they are putting their children at risk by waiting for the "expert" opinion of others.....would you REALLY in the situation above hesitate to go to the dr? because seriously if you were losing your child it's going to cost alot more to plan a funeral than go the Dr. AND if you have a GOOD Dr they will not judge you for being concerned about yourself and the health of your baby....do you think that while i was lying on the bathroom floor to weak to get up from vomiting so much (morning sickness + bronchitis ) that i would have taken the time to ask ANYONE what was wrong? nope i went to the DR. i didn't wait for a stranger to tell me i should go...again COMMON SENSE

i totally agree they should ask a real doctor the medical questions but sometimes i think they just don't want to pay the doctor for just talking or something like that...i'm not really sure i would never do that

This site is cheaper and easier to get an appointment without insurance. For many uninsured, advice here might be their only option. They should listen to any medical advice with discretion.

I probably have. But... I had an appointment scheduled and was asking in the meantime (just for something to do during my downtime @ work). I would hope that's the case with others.

sometimes people build their confidences though others and it's good to know other people have gone through similar things, im sure if you were that worried you wouldn't bother with yahoo answers,
