Covetousness is greed. so some distance as jealousy is in contact, he's the only person who merits to sense that way. He demands unique devotion as he's the Almighty author. Psalm 36: 9 factors out that he's the source of existence. different "gods" are able to no longer something in any respect! Even God's call, Jehovah, potential "He motives to become."

First of all jealousy is not a sin.
If you read the Bible or even if you look around, if for example the husband sees his wife with another man looking all cozy he may get jealous and he is capable of killing when he is feeling jeaous. When jealous, that is when we are most dangerous, including God. You as a wife/husband have the right to get jealous when you see your partner cozy with another person, why? Because it's your partner and you don't want to share the partner with anyone else, that is your right the moment you got married.
It's the same with God, He alone created us, out of His power, His will and out of nothing so if He sees us worshiping other gods, He will get jealous because they are not the Creator. So He does have the right to get jealous.
I mean it's the same as you, if you do something on your own, which required your time, energy, and so on but in the end the credit is given to someone else, how would you feel? Exactly!
God deserves all the glory and no one should claim that glory because it's not theirs and they do not deserve it, no one deserves the credit. That's why He says, "worship me and no other god", says the Lord.

Look, we are talking about text that has been translated through several languages. Don't get caught up on the exact English word that some translator chose but rather look at the context.
Here is what a quick trip to a thesaurus came up with for the word "jealous":
anxious, apprehensive, attentive, begrudging, covetous, demanding, doubting, emulous, envious, envying, grabby, grasping, green, green-eyed, grudging, guarded, intolerant, invidious, jaundiced, jelly, mistrustful, monopolizing, possessory, protective, questioning, resentful, rival, skeptical, solicitous, suspicious, vigilant, wary, watchful, yellow-eyed, zealous.
I think most people will recognize that when God was described as a jealous God, that was referring to the fact that people must accept him as the one, true God; that there can be no others.

This is the proper context, lets say you are seriously in love with your spouse, would you take it lightly if you caught that spouse in a compromising position with another lover? God knows that when we take our adoration elsewhere it ultimately becomes a feather in Satan's hat. Now Satan makes no bones about it as is evident with Job. Satan wants to grind every human being into the dust. What I can't understand is, why do people find so much fault in God when it's Satan who is standing over them with a knife and fork?

edit:

Apologies - so sorry I have rewritten my answer after I thought about it and felt not happy about what I had wrote. This has made me realise more that some answers require some deeper thought before just writing from the top of the head. Astaghferullah... I don't think we can compare ourselves with God. Jealousy for us mere mortals is a destructive poison. But God is not like us - he is far greater than us.
For us:
"Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, JEALOUSY, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions," (Galatians 5:19-20).
::::: am really puzzled as to why some would say jealousy for us is not a sin when it obviously is a SIN?!!!
Article: 'Jealousy is a dangerous sin':
http://www.khatmeqadria.net/images/books/Jealousy.htm
I.A. Arshed Ph.D has drawn parallels with Exodus 20:4-6 (".....I am a jealous God.....") and various Qur'anic verses given below:
“Do not make idols of any kind, whether in the shape of birds or animals or fish. You must not bow down to them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, who will not share your affection with any other god! I do not leave unpunished the sins of those who hate Me, but I punish the children for the sins of their parents to the third and fourth generations. But I lavish my love on those who love me and obey their commands even for a thousand generations.” Exodus 20:4-6
“And shun unclean idols” (Qur'an 22:30 )
“When Abraham said, O my Lord,… and save me and my offspring from worshipping idols” (Qur'an 14:35 )
“When Abraham said to his father… do you adopt idols as your things of worship? I see you and your tribe in open error” (Qur'an 6:74)
“When (Abraham said to his father and tribe,”What are these images that you sit around? They said, “we found our ancestors worshipping them. (Abraham) said, “Verily, you and your ancestors were in open error” ( Qur'an 21:52 -54)

From the same website: (quote) "A jealous God: Bible says of God that He cannot tolerate sharing of our affection with others gods. Quran also says something similar,” Allah will not forgive (your) assigning Partners with Him, and may forgive lesser sins to whom He wishes” ( 4:48 ) “Verily, Polytheism is a great injustice” (31:13)" (unquote)

I think more often than not these verses need some deep scholarly thought and interpretation :)
Salam...

James 3:15 For jealousy and selfishness are not God's kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and motivated by the Devil.
Well, I guess we should consider that God also commands them not to kill, and then sacks cities and continents. He isn't bound by any rules. He can do whatever he wants.
But humans are supposed to do as he says, not as he does.

You need to remember that God's laws do not apply to Him. He is the Law. He gives a life and He can take it away. He does not have even parents to respect. His laws are here to protect us for each other. : )
He also tells us that He is one and only true God, He knows that we have tendency to worship wrong gods and wrong things.
