It sounds like she has a collapsing trachea. It's very common in small breeds.

There is medication to help.

Here is some info about it.

ADD:
To clear up the difference, "reverse sneezing" is when they suck or snort air in through the nose. "Tracheal Collapse" is when they cough from the mouth. Please do your homework, Sparkles!

You should take her to the vet. It might not be anything major but take her non the less. My dog does that too. It is like she is heaving and choaking. This happens to her because she eats to fast. We massage her stomach area when it happens and it calms her down a lot and then she stops because she has fixed the problem. Now she also had a simular problem but it was because she was allergic to the pain killers she was prescribed. It could be more seriouse though. She could have something wrong with her throat. She might have scar tissue or another problem. So take her to the vet and see what they find out. When you take her mention any pattern to it. Is it after she is done eating, while she is playing, etc... Notice any pattern if there is any.

My two year old puppy used to do that a lot too. It's nothing to be afraid of; she's fine. Mention it to the vet the next time you take her there. I used to think the hacking/coughing that my puppy did was because she always chewed up tissues, but I don't know. If you're dog chews up tissues that may be the reason. Also, give her some water; it may help.

She's 8 mos old, you have had her since she was 2 mos old.. In 6 months time you have been to the vet at least a couple of times for puppy shots etc.. Have you mentioned this to the vet?? It might be a good idea..

Call your vet and see what they say. Then go around your house and make sure the dog isn't eating things it shouldn't be or has any toys are are not suited for a small dog. It could be getting into dust or something simple or it could be an actual problem that requires a vets attention. Either way talking to a vet would be best!!

I adopted an 11mo old German shepard from a shelter. When I got her, she hacked (coughed) all day and ALL NIGHT LONG. I thought she had kennel cough (common in dogs and treatable). The vet thought she had Distemper. We tested her for distemper and it was positive. One of the biggest signs was her deep hacking coughs. Distemper is VERY serious! Be sure to take her to the vet to be tested. The vet will know why she is hacking.
I hope it is not distemper because I spent over 2,000 on her vet bills. She made it though.

Could be allergies if she's not coughing anything up...BUT since it has been going on for some time and it's something noticable not once in a great while....take the dog to the vet for the problem to get checked out.

Enjoy your Min Pin otherwise.

Well this is my cat, but when he makes a 'hacking' noise he's body kinda moves like a slinky and he throws up. Maybe your puppy has someone stuck in his throat and needs to throw up. Take him to the Vet today and get a quick seeing. It could be dangerous he could choke to death GO!

Our 9 month old puppy does something similar... after she drinks water. She is not choking and we think it is just air going in as she swallows the water.
We were concerned at first that she was choking on something. There was nothing in her mouth

Is there any connection between your pup's situation and food or water???

my dog did that to when she was younger, she got over it in a little bit'. but if it keeps on going on and gets worse, take her to the vet. She probably has something stuck in her throat, dogs can't choke they just cough it up.Hope she's o.k. :-) and she could also have kennel cough, you should take her to the vet RIGHT AWAY! my last dog partly died because of that he also had a fractured disk in his back. GO! NOW!
