If you are in the U.S., this link is an online application. Your illness must be well documented, and most importantly being currently treated consistently.

I know in Virginia where I live you can. My sister is bipolar and is on disablity. It was kinda hard though. She had to have letters from doctors saying that she could not work...and she had to have a severe enough case to where she couldn't. She had been hosptalized several times and under severel different doctors care as well as alot of medication. Check into the state you live in and the requirements to recieve disability. Good luck to you

depends where you are in the world. In the UK it is very easy to get on disability if you have bipolar. I do know some people in the states that also get it but it seems it is a lot harder to get then in the UK. If you are in the UK and want more help and information please feel free to let me know. Its hard to get because of 2 things one its the way you fill out the forms and two they don't like giving you money basically.

in the Untited States, yes, depending on the level of functional impairment. You must have a psychiatrist write a letter stating that you are disabled. I have a friend that has been receiving disability for several years now for her bipolar.

you need to apply for social security disability -- and go through the process... your docs need to fill out forms, etc.
social security will then have their medical team review your case to make a final decision.
it's so difficult because lots of people are trying to scam them, i think?
i hope things work out. i'm bipolar too
i understand

Yes you can. BUT, you need to show that you have severe symptoms. You need to have been hospitalized, you need to be on medication, and you need to be unable to keep a job.
It is not easy, but if you are truly disabled, you will get them.

You probably have to have something from a doctor of therapist that says that you are unable to maintain a career.
